Kurt's eyes fluttered open as thunder crashed outside of his and Sam's apartment. Rain poured loudly on the roof and a flash of purple lightning ignited the sky. He rolled over and sighed.
"I'll never get back to sleep," he whispered, watching the brewing storm outside of his window.
Sam turned to him, his eyes still closed. "What'd you say?" He said groggily.
Kurt smiled, suppressing a giggle. He looked at his boyfriend's sleepy face and messy blonde mop.
"You know I have a hard time sleeping though storms," Kurt admitted.
"Don't worry, Kurt," he said as he wrapped his arms around the smaller boy. "You're safe here. I've got you."
Kurt snuggled into Sam and tried to drift off.
"I know what will help you," Sam whispered into Kurt's ear. "When I was little, my mom would sing me to sleep when there was a thunderstorm. I was scared until I heard her voice. I even have the perfect song."
He began to sing softly to the wonderful boy in his arms.
Wondering the streets, in a world underneath it all
Nothing seems to be, nothing tastes as sweet
As what I can't have
Like you and the way that you're twisting your hair round your finger
Tonight I'm not afraid to tell you
What I feel about you.
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have and cannon ball into the water
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will
For you I will
Forgive me if I stutter
From all of the clutter in my head
Cuz I could fall asleep in those eyes
Like a water bed
Do I seem familiar, i've crossed you in hallways a thousand times, no more camouflage
I want to be exposed, and not be afraid to fall
.I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I haveAnd cannon ball into the water
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will
You always want what you can't have
But I've got to tryI'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I wil
lFor you I will
For you I will
For you
If I could dim the lights in the mall
And create a mood I would
Shout out your name so it echos in every room
I wouldThat's what I'd do,
That's what I'd do to get through to you
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
And cannon ball into the water
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will
You always want what you can't have
But I've got to tryI'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will
For you I will
For you I will
For you I will
As Sam finished, he heard Kurt's slow breathing. Sam studied his slumbering face; his perfect nose, rosy cheeks, and plump lips. The last time Sam had sung that song was the first time he told Kurt he loved him. He took a moment to wonder how, in this mess of a world, he had gotten so lucky as to find Kurt. He kissed his love lightly on the cheek and whispered, "sweet dreams."
