Scalding
He took his coffee black.
As black as his eyes were when they were filled with lust for you.
As red hot as possible.
Like the passion that he had for you in his heart.
She took her's with a shot of cream and two packets of sweet and low.
When she kissed him she could taste the bitterness of the coffee in his mouth.
Coffee kept him alive.
Thriving.
He lived off of it.
And his undying love for her.
Maybe it wasn't quite love.
Maybe it was more so lust.
She missed the smell that used to always surround her.
She missed the smell and acidity of the bitter tasting drink.
She held the mug in her hands as she took a sip.
It burnt.
Her tongue felt like it was red hot.
On fire.
She bit back and mumbled several curses as she sat down the mug on the table next to her.
The remainder of the scalding hot liquid slid down her throat.
It reminded her of him.
It was the closest thing she could get to now.
It reminded her of how she stupidly let him go.
Now he was gone.
Gone from her life forever.
He claimed that once she said she didn't want him to walk back out that door that he was gone forever.
He was right.
She hadn't seen him in four months.
That felt like forever to her.
An eternity.
Since she had smelled his Old Spice deodorant and the bitter smell of the coffee on his breath.
She picked back up the mug and turned back on the TV.
"Shane Gray, and his new attitude is not sitting well with his management."
She zoned out to the reporters voice as she began to drink the much cooler liquid again.
How she missed the taste of his bitter kisses, but for right now this would have to subdue.
Because she knows he'll come back around.
What goes around goes around comes back around. What goes around comes around all the way back around. -Justin Timberlake What Goes Around
