Finding Infamy

Prologue: The Sandy Shores of the Ocean

Officially she was on vacation, in truth they being her sister, father and friends had felt she needed a break. More likely they thought she was loosing her touch, and as much as she did not want to believe it, they were right.

The truth was that she had not been the same since Weiss broke up with her, her personal life was a mess and her professional one was not much better, considering she spent everyday working in close contact with the man who had broken her heart.

It did not help that no one but Weiss could figure out what the problem with them had been, everyone had just moved on, like it wasn't the end of the world, like everything was normal, and it was not.

And so they had sent her off on a vacation hoping that she would actually enjoy herself, and pull herself out of the funk that had been dragging her down slowly for the last three months.

Of course, it wasn't really working. She had a job which provided the biggest adrenaline high in the world, where she got to wear the widest range of clothes imaginable, where she could literally do or be anything she wanted, and lying on the beach sun baking or reading a book just left her with more time to mope.

She was alone, and she was lonely, and she could not be bothered to do anything about it. Because the last time she had, he broke her heart, and he couldn't even tell her why.

Nadia Santos was broken and could think of nothing but the real reason why she was here in the first place, that she had loved so completely and lost and now she had to pick up the pieces and move on with her life.

It was a pity she didn't get to say goodbye, but it was better this way. She did not want to go back there, back to her workplace which happened to be his workplace as well, she didn't want to leave everything she had built for herself but the way she saw it she had no choice. There was nothing at APO but a painful breakup she could not ignore because it was shoved in her face everyday.

It was time, time for her to move on to her new life and away from her old one. And one thing was for sure, she would never allow herself to love and trust so completely ever ever again.
