Samantha Carter psychiatric summary

Positive traits:

Loyalty

Team orientated

Technical knowledge

Negative traits

Takes things to heart

Perfectionist

Struggles to explain technical knowledge to others

Loyalty – Captain Carter is a very loyal member of Stargate Command. She has displayed this loyalty countless times by engaging in battle and by going into situations that she knows could be life or death. She reacted well when Hathor took over the base, taking back control rather than heading into the outside work to escape- this showed loyalty to the SGC and to her colleagues.

Team oriented - Captain Carter is very much a team player. She has often made decisions based on protecting her team and is considered a valuable asset when working with members of the SGC team. She has also taken part in missions outside the SGC's remit such as defying orders and gating to a Gould ship.

Technical knowledge- Captain Carter is an expert in astrophysics and has been consulted SGC teams. She has worked both at SGC and off-world, proving she can use her knowledge in even the most challenging circumstances.

Takes things to heart- Captain Carter's performance is exemplary, there is no doubt about that however there is evidence that sometimes she gets too involved in matters and does not always follow orders. One example of this was when she defied orders to abandon a young girl from another planet. It transpired that Captain Carter was eventually correct to take such action despite not following orders. Another example is after Captain Carter became host to a Tokra Gould who later died to save her life. Captain Carter become depressed about the situation but with the support of her team she recovered.

Perfectionist- Captain Carter is a scientist which requires her to perform experiments to test a hypothesis. Captain Carter is a well accomplished scientist but she seems to want to do well in a scientific environment to the point of obsession with getting results, even more so on off world planets where the stakes are high. It is my belief that Captain Carter has her fellow team members to put things in and keep her perfectionism to a minimum.

Struggles to explain technical knowledge to others- Captain Carter has lots of technical knowledge, both on and off world. However, she has a tendency to confuse those around her who do not have as much technical knowledge. This trait does not apply when surrounded by fellow scientists however when working with other soldiers she tends to confuse things and get caught up in scientific knowledge rather than focusing on carrying out orders or leading teams.
