Ambrosia is the drink of the Gods. It was never designed to be medicinal and so, it leaves behind scars. It will add a mark, a blemish, to your skin, a mark to prove that you, young warrior, have fought battles, overcome challenges, bested odds, and survived what your enemies hoped you hadn't. These so labeled "blemishes" proved that you have lived and demigods live extremely eventful lives.

Thalia Grace has scars. They are angry and raw, prone to pain and infection. Her scars are a scream to do better, to be better. Her alcoholic mother, Zeus' absence, Jason's disappearance, Luke's betrayal, Percy's hope, Annabeth's streak, and Zoe's death weigh heavily upon her. Thalia's scars are the past polluting her heart.

Luke Castellan has many scars. They are raw, infected, and crippling. His scars are a painful reminder of his wrongdoings and failures. His unhinged mother, his uncaring father, the Landon quest, the grey streak in Annabeth's hair, Silena and Ethan's death, Thalia's anger and the look of betrayal in Percy's face. Luke's scars are sin flooding his lungs.

Demigods are scarred creatures. Their emotions burn them from the inside out. They bear wounds like badges and hide the deep scars like shame. And, as much as they pray otherwise, ambrosia won't heal their scars. Ambrosia isn't medicine and even if it was, it wouldn't be made for those type of wounds.
