Locked Inside Myself

One Shot!

Castle sat in chair starring at his partner Kate Beckett. His hand wrapped around hers tightly, and the annoying echo of the heart monitor caused him to flinch each time it went off. Her face was pale, and lips chapped. Alexis had come by earlier, and put her hair up.

Three days. Three days and no news. No news on her medical condition. No news on who shot her. Three days of sitting by her bedside hoping and praying with all his might she would wake. Three days of knowing his last words were 'I love you Kate'.

His hand touched her face lightly, it was so cold under his touch. But warm to her.

She didn't know who was touching her though. She just knew it was there, and she couldn't open her eyes. She tried to open her eyes, her mouth. Move her feet. But she couldn't. She could hear a heart monitor in the background, and realized she was in a hospital.

She wanted to talk, ask why she was here. Wanted to scream, but it only echoed in the walls of her brain. She was trapped inside of an unbreakable cocoon.

'What the hell is going on?' Ran threw her mind, staying there. Lock there.

She felt the hand gently fall on her jaw. "Wake up, please," she heard Castle's voice say.

'Wake up? I'm asleep?' She tired to move once more, but all she got was an annoying pushing feeling in her brain.

"God, I can't… I love you so much."

'Castle, I love you too! Save me! Get me out of here! Please!" She stopped thinking for a moment, and like movie clips flashes of what happened returned to her. 'I was shot. Shot at his funeral. I don't want this! I don't want to be a vegetable."

His hand touched her hair. "If you don't wake up… I don't know what I will do. My life without you in it… I can't imagine it." He laughed slightly. "I can only imagine how you feel about. You probably don't share the feelings."

'I do! And I have waited to long to tell you! It's to late.'

"I can only imagine what you would do if you were awake." She began crying inside. "We are trying to find him. We will find him."

'I know you will.'

"I can't sleep… I haven't really tried. To scared if I do… If I leave your side you'll wake up and I won't be here. I can't leave your side… It's stupid and cliché, I know, but hey I am a writer," he joked. He laughed slightly, and though he couldn't hear it she did too.

She felt his hand move off her face. "I want to kiss you. It seems so wrong though because you're in a coma." She could hear her heart monitor speed up, and her chest grow heavier.

'Do it… I dare you.'

"Oh my god," he said taking in that her heart rate picked up when he said that, and now had slowed once again. "Can you hear me?"

'Yes!' She screamed, but got the cave effect once more. But her heart monitor speed up as she thought it.

"You're there," she could hear him smiling. He chuckled slightly. "It speed up when I said I wanted to kiss you," he said smugly. "You want me to kiss you?"

'Yes," she thought softer now. Her heart grew once more.

He grew silent, and she could feel his breath getting closer to her face. Softly his lips touched hers, and her heart rate picked up a fast beat. Her heavy eyes fluttered open using every force of her being, and she saw Castle still kissing her. She lifted her hand and placed on the back of his neck.

Out of shock he pulled back, and looked at her. For a few seconds they starred at each other. Finally she tilted her head.

"I love you too," she told him. It came out scratchy and dry. She smiled lightly, and he grinned back. Passionately his lips re-connected with hers.

Fin.
