Frowning, Narcissa peered into the dark room; it was pitch-black, but she could swear there was someone sat on her bed. She switched the light on anxiously and stepped inside. She laughed inwardly as she identified the dark figure sat upon the bed sheets. "Hello Bella. You gave me quite a scare there."
"Sorry," her sister replied robotically.
"Bella? What are you doing in here?" Bellatrix sighed, stroking a soft pillow, curiously gentle.
"Remembering you," she whispered. Narcissa sat down on the bed, concerned for her eldest sister's sanity.
"I'm still here Bellatrix. You don't need to say goodbye yet," she said gravely. Bellatrix turned her despairing eyes upon Narcissa.
"No Cissy! You mustn't think like that; you never know when…Narcissa, you will never understand. We are going down tonight and you know it. I know it, Draco knows it, Lucius knows it: we all know it! He's the only one that doesn't."
"Bella! Don't say things like that!" Narcissa reprimanded, an appalled look on her face. This was quickly turning into a heated argument. Bellatrix simply laughed, high pitched and crazed.
"Narcissa, you know it too! Potter will win; there is nothing we can do! I am going to die tonight! Maybe you will too. Call it a premonition," she finished soberly. Narcissa looked shocked at her sister's straightforwardness. Nonetheless, she was silent and appeared lost in thought for a few minutes.
"Well, you can't be sure of--" she began unconvincingly, only to be cut off right away.
"For God's sake, Cissy! Are you blind, as well as ridiculously naïve?" shouted Bellatrix, evidently uninterested in making sure that her last moments with her sister were happy and peaceful. "The Death Eaters will die tonight, as will their master, and all our values. So this is goodbye, Cissy." The two of them, different in every way, sat looking at each other. Tears began to streak down Narcissa's face, and Bellatrix's expression softened.
"Goodbye, Bella," she sobbed, throwing her arms around her sister's shoulders. And for the first time in years, Bellatrix hugged her back, a warm, comforting hug, but full of pain and sad, heart-breaking memories.
"Go," she muttered, shrugging off Narcissa after a while. "Go now! Before He returns!" she warned. Stumbling forwards, Narcissa hurried to the door and took one last look at Bellatrix's face. She seemed almost guilty, but maybe it was just the fact that she knew she would survive the night, while her sister would not. Call it a premonition.
Again, forgive the spelling if it's bad, 'cos the spellchecker's play up again! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this; I cried when I wrote it, but, as I've often said, I'm just really soft! And I am... I apologize if Bella seems really ooc, because I figured that she might start to lose faith a little on that last night... I think she would have placed all her faith in Voldemort when they got to Hogwarts though, as the Death Eaters appeared to be winning at the time. We have seen that Bella does care for her family, so I imagined that an emotional goodbye with her beloved little sister might be quite appropriate. Homeowrk is dragging me down BIGTIME so anyway waiting for updates on Torn or even Traitor, bear with me please. At least I won't be out too much, as I can't run properly at the moment because I twisted my ankle on the way home a few days ago. :( Still hurts! Thanks for reading and pleeeease review!
