Compromise

The first thing they did as newlyweds was to move into their own apartment. It was small and cozy, their very own home. After that came the painting of their bedroom walls, or more precisely, deciding exactly what colour to paint those walls.

Sasuke was in the bathroom checking the state of his morning hair, a handy tub of gel within reach, when Hinata poked her head in. "I think purple would be nice…pale purple?" There was no need to elaborate, seeing as they had been discussing the same matter all morning. She trailed off hesitantly when he caught her eye in the mirror and frowned.

"Blue," he said decisively. "Dark blue. Pale purple is so...unhealthy." Privately, he thought it was too feminine, but something told him that wasn't the best term to use.

"I don't really like dark colours," Hinata argued weakly. "Can't we compromise?" She slipped into the bathroom, laying her head on his shoulder, watching their reflections in the mirror. Joined, together, one. She smiled a little at her cheesy thoughts.

Sasuke looked confused for a moment. "Blue then. Regular blue, that's between dark and light, isn't it?" He felt bad when Hinata's face fell, but a man had to assert himself some time, just to show who was in charge. Anyway, it was impossible to compromise on colours! Vaguely, he decided his hair was horrible and reached for the gel.

Hinata's hand caught his outstretched one. "I don't like your hair with gel, it feels funny," she murmured shyly, a blush rising on her cheeks. She pulled Sasuke out of the bathroom, lacing her fingers through his and smiling when his hold tightened back, even as he plaintively lamented the disastrous state of his hair.

When they emerged back into their room, the view of the bare white walls made them snap back to the matter at hand. "Purple?" Hinata repeated tentatively, biting on her lip. Her shoulders slumped miserably when Sasuke opened his mouth to disagree.

"I think-" Sasuke stared hard at Hinata's downcast face, like her father had died or something. "-purple is okay." He rolled his eyes grudgingly; he supposed he wouldn't suffer too much with a purple room.

Hinata smiled sweetly and reached up on her tiptoes to catch Sasuke's lips lightly with her own. "Thank you," she whispered innocently.

Sasuke closed his eyes and deepened the kiss, one hand stealing around his wife's waist possessively. If this was compromise, then taking charge could take the backseat. He could get used to this quite easily, he was sure.
