Another day, another zombie to kill.

You snorted softly as you wrote that phrase on a safe house wall amid all the other survivors' words, some talking about who they lost, others talking to people they hope survived.

You almost laughed, no one was alive anywhere anymore. You and I were the only two living thing left that didn't try to kill everything that walked across their line of sight.

"You coming?" I ask from the doorway.

You nod as you stand and move to my side.

Together we pulled the doorjamb up and pushed the door open.

We moved in synch as we walked the streets of the dead town. It had been three weeks now since the Green Flu outbreak and no end was in sight. We had found some evidence that other people had survived the original outbreak, something about immunity. The odds are good we are both also immune.

We moved closer to the local hospital, a medium sized place located somewhat in the middle of the town. I went to the front, trying to find any spare part we could use and you went to the back, looking for medical supplies.

It was only when you stepped into one of the medical halls that the smell hit you. Moving closer to see you noticed what appeared to be green slime on the floor.

And as you regarded the odd green slime at your feet, you heard the new noises that did not fit in the symphony of the dead you had gotten so used to hearing.

Was someone being sick?

How on earth did they survive the dead's rampage through this town?

You moved closer to the only closed door, apparently leading to a storage closet. Putting your ear to the door you heard the groaning again.

You carefully pushed the door open, mindful of how fragile a human really is, and checked the light switch.

It was broken.

Of course it was.

Your gun centered in the doorway, waiting for something to jump out. A shadow moved.

Suddenly there was a gurgle and with a splat, green goo it you straight in the face. You screamed as you fired wildly, only to end up with a boom and another layer of goo from the dark room. You stumbled back, trying desperately to remove the layers of nauseating goo.

The pounding of feet had you swinging around and shooting at the open door. A body it the ground and the rest just clambered over the dead man. Their screeches told you where to shoot.

When the pounding of feet was finally over, soft footsteps made their way to you.

"You okay?" I asked.

"No." You reply.

When I glanced away you followed my line of sight only to stumble back when what appeared to be the lower half of a body rolled to a stop at your feet.

"Gross." You sneered.

"Yeah," I said.

And Boomer is over.

Charger is up next.

Peace.

Out.
