They were walking hand-in-hand when all of a sudden he stopped. Caroline was confused it was freezing and she wanted to get back, why was he was just standing there?
"Caroline I have something to tell you," he mumbled while looking down at the ground.
"Well can you tell me when we get back to your house it's freezing out here?" she exclaimed.
"No. If I don't do it now I will never do it!" he shouted a little louder than he would have liked.
Caroline was starting to get confused and worried.
"Matt what's going on?"She asked her voice getting a bit shaky.
"I've been lying to you Caroline," he replied with a sad look on his face.
"What?" She whispered hoping he wouldn't repeat it but he did.
"I've been lying to you about not loving Elena, I still do and I can't take lying to you anymore. I'm sorry" he replied anxiously.
Caroline had to get out of there, so she ran, not hearing Matt's cries behind her. She didn't even know where she was going; she just wanted to get as far away from him as possible. That's when she ended up at the high school. Stepping inside it was pitch black and cold, but Caroline thought this was the best place to be able to cry and be alone. Was she wrong? Tyler Lockwood had been here since footy practice had ended and that was two hours ago. He didn't want to go home and receive another lecture from his parents about how he was such a disgrace. That's when he heard it, the muffled cries in the hallway. Following the sound he ended up outside the gym where a girl around his age sat crying.
"Hey," he said softy when her head turned to see him.
WAIT! Those eyes, he knew those eyes anywhere, those deep pools of liquid brown only belonged to one person and that was...
"Caroline?" he exclaimed surprised.
"Tyler," she whispered in between sobs.
"What are you doing here at this time?"He asked worried.
"I could ask you the same thing," she mocked.
"Don't change the subject," he replied.
She didn't reply.
"Caroline Forbes I've known you since we were in diapers now tell me," he exclaimed.
"Fine, you really want to know?" She sighed.
"Yes!" He said getting annoyed.
"Matt told me he still loves Elena, always has." She said cracking at the end.
"Wow!" he said surprised at what he just heard.
"Yeah," she said shyly looking down at the floor.
"What a jerk," he said angrily.
"But you're best friends?" She said confused.
"That doesn't mean he can do that to you, "he argued.
They sat there for at least half an hour just talking about anything, until...
"Do you ever feel like there's not a person in the world who cares?" she muttered.
"You have me," he answered tenderly.
"Yeah, I have you." She smiled.
"That's the first time I've seen you smile in awhile," he laughed.
"Thank you," she whispered.
"For what?" He asked surprised.
"For just being here," she said smiling.
"You're welcome, "he said proudly.
At that moment it was just them and no one else, no Elena or Matt, just them and that's when it happened.
They kissed!
