Summary: "I'm afraid of all the things we haven't gone through, and I'm afraid of all the things you haven't discovered about me and how I am certain you wouldn't love me after."
"What are we even doing, Sherlock?" John presses his forehead, looking down, a habit he has when he is particularly annoyed.
"I.. I hardly even know."
John walks closer to the tall, sleek man before him, looks up at him, his everything, and sighs.
"John, I.." Sherlock whispers, so softly that there was barely any voice coming out from him. He peers down at John and tries to say something, but looks so strained. His vulnerability is evident in the way he stares at John, and he tries again and this time, he manages to say something.
"I'm afraid." He hesitates. He closes his eyes, and he takes a deep breath. "I'm afraid of all the things we haven't gone through, and I'm afraid of all the things you haven't discovered about me and how I am certain you wouldn't love me after. I'm afraid that I might just run away from you one day because I am too consumed by my overwhelming... feelings for you. I'm afraid of you, John Watson. I'm afraid of the things you make me feel. I am, so afraid that these convoluted feelings I feel for you might just be my enigma. I can't delete these feelings from my mind. That is what scares me."
There is a minute or two of silence. They just stare at each other as if time paused for that very moment. John's mouth is hanging open and his eyebrows are raised, yet again. Sherlock is frowning, hands on his hips, waiting for his blogger to say something.
And then John looks down and he tries to hide his smile, but his glee is imminent when the sound of his laughter breaks the silence between the two.
"Come here, you stupid git."
And that was when they both knew where everything was going as their mouths met and the sound of John's laughter turned into the sound of both mens' laughter, instead.
