This story is dedicated to my grandpa for always telling me to believe in my dreams. Plz enjoy: D
I glanced at the alarm. Hmmm. 10:00 a.m. The alarm should've gone off two hours ago. I rubbed my tired eyes, trying to get the drowsiness out of them, and pulled the blankets off me. I trudged to the kitchen where I found Luke quickly eating a bowl of cereal. Goddess, Luke, can't you slow down for just a minute?
"Yo, Bo!" Luke said happily, milk dribbling down his chin. I noticed he wasn't wearing that red flamey bandana thing that he usually wears. Weird.
"Luke, why aren't you wearing your bandana? You always wear it." I said pointing to his cerulean blue hair.
"Yeah, I know. But today is Mom's birthday and I want to look awesome for her."
"Luke, you know she's dead, right?" I said cautiously pointing out. Luke's goofy grin instantly disappeared and was replaced with a gloomy frown.
"Yeah...I know." I sat down next to him and found a small picture frame with a little boy and his mom. The little boy was photographed with his arms around the older woman, obviously in a hug, his amber eyes twinkling. The small bandage on his nose wasn't there at the time, neither was his bandana. The woman had long, ocean blue hair that was tied back in a loose ponytail. She kissed the little boy's forehead. I looked up to see that Luke was now at the door.
"Well, we better get going." Luke said his happy tone back intact. I place the picture frame back on the table. I followed behind Luke as he led me out the door. Today was our day off so we were free. I wish I knew were Luke was taking me, though. My question was solved when he took me to the graveyard. There was a bunch of fancy looking gravestones like Mrs. Hamilia's. But in the back were less polished, deserted gravestones. A chipped gravestone with a few cracks here and there said the words: Dakota Austin, a lovely mother and a wonderful wife.
Luke laid a single red tulip on her gravestone. He placed a Post-It note on the headstone; it read the words "Love you, Mom. Happy B-day! From Dale and Luke"
"Bo, I'd like you to meet my mother!" Luke said cheerfully. I stared at the tombstone for a moment. What are you suppose to say to a piece of rock?
"Uh, hi Luke's mom." I said scratching the back of my head. Luke stared at the tombstone, his eyes looking in a distant.
"Luke...you're so weird." I said, breaking the intense silence. Luke turned to me, his eyes swelling with tears. Oh, no. Oh, God. I made him cry. That's a first. Gosh, why did I say that? I always knew how close he was to his mom.
"But I guess that's why you're like family to me." I said patting his back. His smile came back and he wiped the tears off with the back off his wrist.
"Thanks, Bo."
Meh, I can' think right now. But anyways I hope u guys loved the little one-shot I made. Anyways plz review and remember: A blue sky is a happy sky! ;D
