Major Samantha Carter had been sitting in her Lab for the past three hours going over the latest Gate analysis reports. There were anomalies in the Dialing program that she was determined to figure out. As she turned around to refill her coffee mug she noticed Daniel standing in the doorway.

"Daniel! Are you trying to give me a heart attack! How long have you been standing there?" She accused

"Not long. I was just kind of working my way up to saying this" He rambled, as he made his usual hand gestures he made when he was nervous.

"What is it?" She asked, starting to get worried.

Daniel paused as if to collect his thoughts and then replied "Ahhh, there's someone in the infirmary I think you'll want to see."

Martouf awoke with the distinct feeling that someone was one trying to strangle him.

He tried to get his hands up to defend himself, but they wouldn't respond. As he tried and failed to open his eyes he found he still couldn't breathe, starting to panic he tried moving his head and called out for help.

He suddenly heard voices. He couldn't make out what they were saying and he didn't have much time to consider it much more as at that point everything faded to black again.

Three weeks later

"Martouf" Sam said his name again for what felt like the hundredth time. He'd been unconscious now for three weeks. Janet said she put him into a medically induced coma, to help him heal himself.

"Jolinar?" He asked weakly, not even able to open his eyes

"No Martouf, it's me. Your on Earth, you're safe" She said reassuringly. She could only imagine what he had been through since she saw him last.

"Samantha?" He asked, finally prying his eyes open to look at her.

"Hey" Was all she said. All of those days planning what she would say to him if she ever saw him again and all she could say was 'hey'.

Sleepily he dragged his eyes away from her and across the room. Then a flash of something crossed his face, something that looked like fear. Pure, untainted fear.

"Lantash?"

"Martouf, I am so sorry. They did all they could. He…He's gone" She said with tears in her eyes as she watched his face twist in pain.

The heart monitor started to increase as he struggled to free himself from the life support wires.

"No, no, no. I can't hear him! Please, tell me where he is, please!" He begged as he writhed in the bed.

Attracted by the commotion Janet jogged over to the bed and saw he was awake. Immediately alarmed at Martoufs behavior she looked to Sam.

"He woke and started asking for Lantash, I didn't know what else to say" Sam explained in a worried voice as Janet pumped several CCs of sedatives into his IV.

He slumped back into the bed as the sedatives took over.

Janet sighed as she adjusted his various tubes and dressings. This was going to be a long and hard recovery.
