Prologue: Transfer

She opened her private laptop and entered her username and password, the computer booting up and sending her to the desktop, her mouse already on the icon for the messaging software that was installed for faster and easier communication with the leaders around the world. With a glass of white wine in hand, she entered the chat, a message already waiting for her.

Do you have any idea how early it is, Director?

It doesn't matter. We have more important matters to discuss right now Doctor.

Such as?

Drake Parker.

Project Atlas? What else do you need to know about him?

How is he? Last time I heard anything from him, he was still in London.

He's excelling for now with a 95% success rate. All doubts about him are gone as of now, but he's still going to need to attend a Genetic so they can hone his skills even furthers.

And his Stigmata? Any problems with the implants?

He's been complaining of sudden and minute muscle spasms in his back. No signs of his body rejecting the implants but he can't access his Volt Texture or Volt Weapon. Other than that, he's fine.

Run tests. I want to know what the problem is before we ship him to a Genetic.

Yes ma'am.

What is he doing now, Doctor?

Still training in Japan, I think?

Why Japan? Anywhere else would've been fine as far as training goes.

Japan has a better program than we do so we went with the best. If I remember right, he was running drills with JSDF while he waited for further instructions.

And the language barrier?

We got him a Japanese to English dictionary. Should help, I think.

Where does he get sent?

West Genetics. Headmistress there is more than willing to help him with any problems with his Stigmata and the school already has a reputation for producing powerful Pandora.

When does he get sent out?

As soon as you okay him for transfer, Director.

That other 5% you mentioned, what was the reason he failed? I didn't invest this much time and money for my efforts to yield shoddy work.

Morals. Nearly everytime we have him run the sims, he'll risk saving any simultated civilian he can before he gets the job done.

Will this be problematic?

Not unless civilians are going to be caught in an active warzone. I doubt it'll be much of a problem.

Fine. When's the soonest you can have him at West Genetics?

Halfway through the week next week if we retry the trials he failed, tomorrow if we don't.

I want him on the next VTOL to West Genetics as soon as possible. We've put it off long enough.

Understood, but I highly doubt that he'll enjoy being pulled and sent to school.

Give him some Twizzlers and a DVD of House M.D. and he should be fine.

DVD? Really? We're still bribing him with candy and a medical drama?

Your point being, Doctor?

My point being is that he's not that little kid anymore! Christ, we treat him like he's still that five year old boy we knew rather than a living weapon.

I don't recall you paying for his augmentations and the implantation of his Stigmata, Doctor. I will treat Project Atlas as I see fit and there is not thing you can do to change that. If you have a problem with that, the door is always waiting Serrano. Am I clear?

Yes, Director.

Good. I want him at West Genetics first thing tomorrow morning.

Yes, Director.
