Beauty and the Tenken
Chapter One
Tale as Old as Time...
Smiling at the sun, a very pretty girl brushed a silky ebony strand of hair behind her ear as she bent down to pick up her book. She was beauty. She was wit. She was strong. She was...
"Kaoru!"
Looking up, the girl's eyes shone brightly. Her father has finally returned from his trip! Oh how joyous this day has been.
"Daughter, I have missed you so."
"And I you, father."
After a quick embrace, they parted and the father went in to his house to greet his other daughters. He had just come home from a business trip, for he was a rich merchant. With only three daughters to keep him company, one seemed to always brighten up his day. And that was his little Kaoru. His youngest daughter.
"Father! You are back!" Two girls cried in unison," What have you brought back for us?"
Secretly inside, he was slightly disappointed. His other two daughters were greedy and selfish. They never truly cared about his welfare and were only satisfied with riches and young men. Thank goodness Kaoru was different.
The world is changing now. The items he sold are no longer popular and every day they were growing poorer and poorer. One day, the old man lost all but one of his ships at sea. Along with his ships, he also lost all of his money and treasures. From that loss, his family now lives in a hovel of a farm. Fortunately, there was news that at the end of the land, where the Sun meets the Earth, there was a castle. A splendid one, that is. With rooms filled with various riches and treasures. But there was a catch. A prince lived at that castle. Many say that he is inhuman for his God-Like speed and his emotionless soul. The old man paid no heed to the warning and went to seek his great fortune.
The night before his adventure, he asked each of his three daughters what they wanted him to bring back from his great journey. The eldest daughter, Megumi, asked for fancy and fashionable silk kimonos. The youngest, Misao, asked for glamorous jewels. His favorite, Kaoru, asked him to return home safely.
"But there must be something that you want, daughter."
"Well, if you would kindly bring back a single jasmine, that would be wonderful."
"Of course my daughter."
"Good-bye father!" Called all three of the girls.
"And do be careful!" Kaoru added.
Yes I'm very lazy... I'll try to update my other stories soon. Please review! Bye.
