Kisame was sitting and thinking one day when he realized something. Every swordsman of the mist had someone that they cared about, the one that didn't care that they were freaks. Zabuza had Haku and Raiga had Ranmaru. But then Kisame thought, iIs Itachi mine?/i Ironically, Itachi came into the room and sat next to him. He was reading a book at the time. "I needed a quiet place to read." Itachi explained, not looking up from his book.

iWe are friends . . . right?/i Kisame thought. Sensing that Kisame was troubled, Itachi lowered his book. "What's wrong?" He asked. Kisame shook his head, implying that nothing was wrong. He debated in his mind whether or not he should question Itachi about their relationship. He may get his answers but it'd be awkward to just bring it up out of the blue. Kisame looked over to Itachi; he still hadn't continued to read again. "You seem like you're about to ask something." Kisame sighed inwardly, iMight as well ask./i

"We're friends . . . right?" Kisame asked nervously. Itachi raised an eye brow.

"Yeah I guess you could consider us that . . . why do you ask?"

"I was just wondering." Kisame's gaze trailed away from Itachi. He looked down at the floor, pondering if he should delve further into the subject. Making up his mind, Kisame asked, "Do you think I'm a freak?"

"No I don't. Why are you asking?" Itachi wanted to know what the questioning was about. Kisame shrugged and answered with the same response he gave before. Kisame then thought over his next question hard. Itachi may take things the wrong way if he asked the next one. Curiosity got the best of him so he asked.

"Do you care about me a lot?" Kisame asked. This time, he didn't look at Itachi when he asked. There was a pause from his partner. After a while, he had to see the expression on Itachi's face so he looked. Itachi had a questionable look.

"There's some reason why you're asking me these questions. What is it? No one asks random questions for no reason." Itachi said, avoiding answering the question. Kisame shrugged. "I'm serious Kisame." Itachi now was almost glaring at him, he wanted a straight-forward answer. Kisame decided to explain, it wouldn't hurt.

"Well I was thinking about how almost all of the former seven swordsman of the mist had one person that they cared about and this person cared about him more than anyone in the whole world. They looked past the fact that they were a freak. So I wanted to know if I had someone like that in my life. The only person who might even be close to that was you so that's why I was asking. Sorry for the interrogation Itachi, I was just curious." Kisame explained. Itachi managed to allow a small smile on his lips.

"You could've just asked me if I was that guy instead of having me confused the whole time Kisame." Itachi said, setting his book on the table. Kisame began to blush, that would've been easier. "Anyways, if you're wondering if I'm that person, of course I am. Who else in this whole world cares about you more than me?" Itachi asked. Kisame smiled.

"No one."

"Exactly." Itachi leaned in and gave Kisame a small kiss on the lips. "Don't say anything about this conversation to anyone. I think we both want to keep our reputations." Itachi picked up his book and continued reading it. Kisame was grinning. He wrapped his arms around Itachi and looked at the book that Itachi was reading.

"What are you reading?"

"Some love story. If you want you can read too."

"Okay." They smiled at each other and then picked up on the page that Itachi left off, Itachi snuggled in Kisame's arms.
