Author's Note: Yet again, another Everlark drabble that was written over time on my iPod. Let me know what you guys think!
There were times where he would lie awake at night, pressing her to him, trying to convince himself that she was still there. Safe and sound.
There were times that she ran her fingers through his hair, using the soft texture to soothe her fears that he would be taken, making sure that he was still with her. Safe and sound.
There were times that he would hold her hand, as if it was the only thing that tethered her to him. He would run his finger over the cool gold band on her finger, the one material thing that bound her to him, telling him that she was there. Safe and sound.
There were times that she held him close, as if her arms would ward off any danger that could possibly come near him. He was still with her. Safe and sound.
Their fears were justified by their experiences, their nightmares once real. They were bound to each other, through love and fear. By memories and nightmares. One could not survive without the other. Without him, she would never learn to see the light in even the darkest of times. Without her, he wouldn't learn to embrace his inner strength. They were formidable individually, yet they were even stronger together, bringing out the best, and sometimes worst, in each other. And because of that bond they would always continue to protect one another, ensuring that they were safe and sound.
