(This is a sequel to my story: "Region of Corruption", that is posted on this site. To thoroughly understand this story, it is recommended that you read that story before reading this one.)
Two years after the events that took place back in 2030, Anula still thrives and is now the most powerful region when compared to the rest. Unova is no longer what it used to be, Anula's army was able to successfully conquer it and has since instilled multiple bases and outposts across the region's grounds. The few thousand remaining citizens and their pokémon are now somewhat taken care of by the new order.
"So, which region are we hitting next?" Reyna was currently inside of Anula's main headquarters, located in the heart of Deltano city.
"Currently looking into which region is the most vulnerable to invade, may take a few more days to accurately pinpoint this and pull any results though." The employee looked up at her from his computer as Reyna stood over him. They were in one of the building's main rooms, the tech room. It kept every existing region under close watch and enabled communication from Anula to the soldiers that were stationed in Unova by a few hundred employees that worked inside.
The room was often dimmed, and the small amount of light that was present shone off of Reyna's fair skin, but hid the small amount of freckles on her face. "Sounds good." She then walked off, heading towards the exit of the building. Reyna took the elevator up and once outside, was hit with a few strong gusts of wind which blew her hair back. Straight, flowy and brown in color, though she would never let it grow past her upper back.
Reyna walked down the busy sidewalk, her hands stuffed into the pocket of her thin white hoodie as she looked off at the nearby docks. It reminded her of the water shuttle, the one she'd taken to just narrowly escape Unova two years ago. It would likely happen all over again if she were deployed to overtake another region, which honestly wouldn't surprise her, it was practically her life.
Reyna lived in a small house near the outskirts of the city; it's where she was headed now to rest while she could. It was getting dark anyway, the sun had begun to set a few minutes ago.
However, that was no issue for a pokémon that lived for the night. Rosa would stay out for about an hour or so after nightfall, but to make sure Evan didn't worry about her, she would usually make her way back to him sooner than that.
Rosa had been enjoying the vibrant and bustling city so far, though currently being one of the only pokémon in the entire region had its moments. From double looks to a few awkwardly trying to pet her.
There had been a few shuttle shipments sourced over from Unova a few months ago that had brought in a few pokémon, but they weren't released into the region's wilds. Instead, they were and are still held in captivity within Anula's headquarters, it seemed as if Anula didn't want pokémon aimlessly roaming the land for some reason. Luckily, Rosa had freedom to explore whenever and wherever she pleased because her trainer worked with Anula's army - speaking of her trainer, he was currently out on a small mission in Unova with Violeta. They were both due to come back tonight, and as usual, Rosa had been worrying about him. She didn't really want to stay outside either, so she would instead wait at home for their return.
"Sir… you aren't permitted to enter any of our outposts! Turn back!" Evan spoke from behind a black steel gate. Two tall towers attached to each end of it, mainly built from steel.
"P-Please, my wife has been terribly injured!" The young man pleaded from the other side of the gate, standing just a few feet away from it. He wore dirty and ripped clothing, weak, looked as if he were just barely holding on to life.
Evan held his compact rifle in his hands, he didn't raise it just yet. "We don't help individuals! Turn back, last warning!" To top this off, Evan was wearing Anula's infamous navy blue colors. The full outfit.
"I-I'm begging you! You can't let her die!" Tears now streaming from the man's eyes, it seemed as if what he had been saying was genuine.
Evan looked behind himself, most of the soldiers were working inside of the tents that had been set up throughout the inside of the outpost. Evan had been given gate watch - and was strictly ordered to kill after the second given warning. This man could get Evan into a huge amount of trouble, he had to do something. A silent exhale escaped his mouth as he raised his rifle and aimed it right at the poor guy. "If you don't leave… I'll have to shoot!" Evan cocked back the rifle and tightened his grip on it.
"...Damn you! All of you! You've ruined us all! Took everything away from us!" After his replies of defeat, Evan watched the man quickly stumble off, and he felt no better than the rest of the murderous region that he worked under. His rifle now lowered, he crouched down and shook his head.
"How's gate watch going hun?" Evan felt a hand place itself on his left shoulder and he looked behind him to see Violeta. She'd only seen the last few moments of the altercation Evan had just dealt with.
"I don't know… why are we here again?" He asked as he stood back up and turned to face her.
"Anula needs almost all soldiers in Unova right now to maintain power and to help speed up the stabilization process… Least that's what I was told." Violeta explained and eyed his face, he looked upset. "Hey…" She lightly grinned and leaned in to give him a light kiss on his cheek. "We get to go back home in an hour, you can get away from all of this for a while."
"Violeta, Anula isn't my home. This region...Unova, is my home, and I've aided in destroying it."
