-Zero and a little-

Hermione and Ron brought Harry (under the invisibility cloak) towards the portrait hole to get him safe out of the castle. While they were walking down the stairs of the dormitory, they met Lavender at the foot of the stairs.

'What were you doing up there with her?' shrieked Lavender.

Ron spluttered something, and Hermione couldn't help to smile a little. Then all of a sudden, Ron had quickly disappeared leaving Hermione alone. Hermione, not taking any notice of the angry looks she got from Lavender, walked up the stairs again towards her dormitory.

'Hermione wait!' Lavender said.

Still she walked on now unable to stop smiling and entered the dormitory. She heard Lavender hurrying up the stairs to follow her. While Hermione sat down on her bed, Lavender stormed inside.

'You're going to answer my questions now!'

'And why would I do that?' Hermione asked idly.

'Because Ron is too scared to answer them his self and you seem to be his new lover,' Lavender replied hatefully.

'Excuse me, his new lover?' Hermione said looking up now, 'We have always been and are just friends. However, you seem too stupid to notice even that. And yes, I'll answer your questions if you like.'

Lavender, for a moment unable to answer, stood still in the doorway. Then sat down on her bed opposite to Hermione's bed.

Finally, she said, 'Right. Does he still love me? Because when he was in the hospital wing, he never wanted to talk to me and he never thanked me for the beautiful Christmas present I gave him. Please tell me the truth even when the answer is no.'

After saying all of this, Lavender actually looked on the verge of tears and Hermione nearly felt sorry for her.

'Er … well, to be very honest: no, he doesn't really like you anymore.'

'I knew that this was going to happen!' Lavender cried and Hermione could swear she saw a tear dripping out of a corner of Lavender's eye. 'Do you think I could make it up with him and that he'll love me again?'

Hermione now couldn't resist the temptation anymore.

'I think your chances are zero percent and a little.'

With that, Lavender dashed out of the dormitory leaving Hermione alone once more.

'Zero percent and a little,' Hermione said quietly to herself and then started laughing, feeling as if she had drunken Felix Felicis herself too.
