Twilight belongs to Stephenie Meyer. The song is The Reason by Hoobastank
I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know
Edward sat in his Volvo. His body was curled up like a ball. His knees were tucked in. His head was against his chest and his hands were gripping his hair so hard it would fall out. With his supernatural strength, but also with his durability, it was a fight against himself. It was a fight that he would not win, either way.
He hated this song, always did. He could never understand the lyrics. Sure, he knew of this emotion, even heard it in other's minds, but he never 'got' it. Then Bella came and it was like he suddenly saw the light.
I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
That's why I need you to hear
He was so sorry he had to lie to her. But still, how quickly she believed him. It hurt that she would believe he loved her so little. No…Edward loved her too much and this was why he left her. So many times that scene played in his head. The look on her face when he told her he didn't love her anymore. How hurt she looked. Damn this photographic memory.
I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
And the reason is you…
If she did all that for him, then what the hell was he doing here? Edward's eyes closed even more tightly. He could feel his eyelashes brush against his cheekbones and the memories of Bella came flooding back. He didn't need this. He could see it in his mind, so many times that Bella was too red to look at him, and the beautiful sound of her breathing. The many times her eyelashes would flutter while looking at him. Angrily, he forced open his eyes gazing into the unseen distance.
Edward let go of his hair and his hands rested on his shoulders. Then he clenched his hands.
The song was ending, but he didn't care. Furiously, he turned off the radio.
