Today was his birthday. Normally, he wouldn't celebrate it but, due to Ronald and, Grell's nagging, he finally decided to.
They both burst into his office with huge grins on their faces and, Grell had both of his hands behind his back. He was now very suspicious.
"Grell, what have you got behind your back?" he asked with narrowed eye. The redhead began to whistle nonchalantly. "Oh, nothing, dear~" He said with a sly grin. "Nothing but this German chocolate cake~" He said setting it on his desk. William's eyes widened.
"Time to put the candles on!" Ronald said with a big smile as he placed the candles on the cake. That was when he heard his door open and, saw all of his employees smiling at him. Their eyes were all full of joy and, mirth. It..it touched him. That his workers went out of their ways to celebrate his birthday.
Eric walked in and, gave Ron the lighter. " 'Ere you go Knoxie. Light those suckers up!" He said as he clapped his hands. Ronald nodded. "Alright, boss.. Here we go.." He said placing the candles on the cake. "Simon, hit the lights!" Grell exclaimed as he watched in excitement.
When the lights were down, they all began to sing:
Happy Birthday to You
Happy Birthday to You
Happy Birthday Dear William~
Happy Birthday to You.
From good friends and true,
From old friends and new,
May good luck go with you,
And happiness too.
William was speechless. He blew out the candles and, looked up in surprise at how everyone began to clap. 'So. This is what it feels like to be happy..' He thought with a soft expression. He looked around at everyone in the office and, noticed how they were all talking and laughing and, giving him good luck charms and other things and, that was when he realized something.
He had the best division ever. They may have made mistakes but they cared about him and, he couldn't have been happier.
