Okay, this is just a one-shot but I was randomly inspired. Please no flamers.

In the Snow

"Temari! Temari, have you seen Gaara?" Kankuro questioned in a slightly frantic tone.

His panic was only heightened when Temari confessed that she hadn't seen Gaara since last night, this being the same situation for Kankuro.

'Damn it, I've searched all over the house, his office, everywhere. Where is he?' It was then he decided to open the curtains, thinking that maybe the warm glow of their living room might draw Gaara out from whatever hiding place he had found.

A single spot of crimson assaulted his eyes from a distance. The crimson colored spot danced around as it went up, than down, up, than down as it went further from the house, until finally it disappeared beneath a blanket of snow. There wasn't a doubt in the older sand siblings mind that that red spot was his brother's head. The only thing he couldn't understand was why his brother was out so far from the house in the snow.

"Hey," Kankuro whispered into his brother's ear as he lay down beside him in the fluffy snow.

Gaara nodded to show he acknowledged him, unconsciously moving closer to the warmth that was his brother. Kankuro wrapped an arm around the younger's shoulders, pulling him into his side.

"I've been looking everywhere for you, where were you?" Kankuro whispered his question, afraid of shattering this moment with any louder of a tone.

"Here" Gaara replied as he tilted his head a little further upward to stare at a lone passing cloud in the dark winter sky.

It was in that moment, as the silvery light of the moon cast down its raise upon Gaara's face, illuminating is imperfect features, perfect in their imperfection that Kankuro leaned over to kiss his brother's lips.

Gaara blinked up at him, his face void of shock or confusion, simply an accepting almost smug aura filled him.

"It's about time." He muttered before curling even deeper into Kankuro's side.

That simple gesture spoke a world.

"I love you too, my baby brother."

They sat like that for what felt to them both an eternity and a second. It was too much time and not enough that passed before Temari shoved open the door, yelling at them to get in before they both froze to death. But, even as they got up, leaving the indentions they had made in the snow, Kankuro's whispers of love still flowed heavy on the winter wind.

Wow, that definitely wasn't how I had imagined it would turn out. But, oddly enough I like it. Well thank you for reading and R & R!
