Chapter 1 - Take the Hero
A/N - Woop! Second fanfic! And this one has CHAPTERS. If I can get the chapters to work okay then we're sorted. Also, feel free to point out any flaws, but that doesn't mean flame me because I put something in this story you didn't like. Good day.
How did it all end? How did he gain so much power? His sheer strength is... unbeatable. But I guess everyone has their price, no matter how much wet work they need to do to get what they want. Shadow the Hedgehog is no exception.
It all started on a nice summer's day in Station Square. Sonic was speeding around as fast as he pleased, anywhere he wanted. Alongside him was his trusted friend and companion, Miles "Tails" Prower, and hot on Sonic's heels, as usual, was none other than Amy Rose.
"SONIC! Slow down, please! You know I can't keep up forever!" The pink one shouted, desperate for her desire to listen.
"Tails, I will do ANYTHING you need me to if you fly me away. Help me!" The Blue Blur shouted. He was desperate too.
"Sorry, Sonic! You're on your own on this one! I gotta get to my workshop to work on my new plane!"
Tails flew away into the distance, bound for his workshop and home in the Mystic Ruins. Either he was teasing Sonic, or he wanted to see him suffer at the hands of Amy, should she catch him.
Ah great... well, I guess I could use the Chaos Emeralds personally for one time only... Sonic was hatching a plan to get away from Amy once more.
Sonic started to flash and glow yellow, and was circled by the Chaos Emeralds, going faster and faster with each circle made around him. Sonic was getting away from her, one way or another!
Suddenly, a bright light engulfed the surrounding area of the chase, and Sonic was hurtling toward the sky at a blinding speed, and within a few seconds, he was out of sight.
Sonic landed in an unknown location, a ruin, but something clicked in his mind, and he knew he had been there before, but where was it? And why was this place familiar?
Something caught the sun and shone it in his eye, and Sonic looked over to investigate.
A Chaos Emerald! What a find in a place like this, that adds to his collection to make... 8? But there aren't 8 Chaos Emeralds, there are 7! What is this artifact then, if not a Chaos Emerald? It has the same physical qualities, except this "Emerald" is black on the inside but is radiating purple energy...
As strange as Sonic thought it was, he decided to hold on to it, maybe Tails or Knuckles could tell him something about it.
Sonic recognised this place as the Mystic Ruins Jungle, and remembered the way out from the ancient echidna shrine. He was about to reach a ladder to get out, when the strange gem started burning in his hand! It was as hot as a volcano, and severely burned Sonic's left hand, and his hand was left in a horrific state.
Sonic started to feel weak, and noticed that he had a medium-sized cut, but there was a purple-blue liquid in the cut. The liquid slowly disappeared into his hand, and then into his blood stream. He started to feel faint, and his vision blurred badly.
He could see his flesh turn blackish where the liquid got in, and then he saw no more. He collapsed, and with no one around, could not be taken to a safe place...
