SilverRogue: This is a song fic for the song The Greatest Man I Never Knew.
I don't own that song, and if I owned IZ I wouldn't be writing fanfiction,
now would I? This idea struck me as I was watching "Battle Dib." Gaz and
Dib REALLY don't know their dad very well at all. Read and review. Flame if
you think it deserves a good frying. You won't hurt my feelings.
The greatest man we never knew
Lived just down the hall
We saw each other every day
But never spoke at all
Dad was at the big labs.
We stayed in our rooms.
How were we supposed to know,
He thought we hung the moon?
The greatest man we never knew
Came home late each night
Dad never had too much to say.
Too much was on his mind.
We never really knew him,
And now it seems so sad
Everything he gave to us took all he had
And the days turned into years
And the memories grew black and white
Dad became like a frail winter wind blowing across our lives
The greatest words we never heard
And I guess we'll never hear
The man we thought could never die
Has been dead almost a year
He was good at business
But there was business left to do
Dad never said he loved us
I guess dad thought I knew.
