Disclaimer: I don't own any characters from Sailormoon. They belong to Naoko Takeuchi. The plot however, is mine, so please don't commit plagiarism by copying it. =)

Author(ess)'s notes: This spun off from something - cross between a dream and my collection of SM manga. Don't think that "Oh, she's decided to abandon Blind Faith and start a new fanfic" kind of thing. I do intend to complete BF (No! Not Big Foot! Blind Faith!), and I've already got some ideas up for that and also for a Rurouni Kenshin fanfic. So yeah.. look out for those. Without further ado, I present to you "Of Heaven's Descent". Don't ask me how the title links up. I haven't figured that part out yet. *Oops*

Of Heaven's Descent

-Prologue-

She had been beaten up again. It had become a routine. She sat on the window seat looking down at the white wonderland below, while holding an icepack to her cheek. The snow has started falling at last, she mused. Everyone seems so happy. Everyone but-

At that moment, the door of the small apartment was flung open and a huge burly man stood there, in a drunken stupor.

"Where is it?" He roared at her. She leapt away from the window and sidled up close to the wall as he strode over to her, almost tripping over a chair along the way. She moved along the wall, attempting to escape from him.

"I don't know!" she cried out as he made a grab for her and succeeded in pinning her against the wall. Up close, he looked terrifying. His bloodshot eyes were bulging out, his face was flushed a bright red partly from anger and the liquor. He reeked of cheap alcohol.

"You damned girl! It's obvious that the punishment earlier wasn't enough!" He slapped her, clearly dissatisfied with her answer. Again and again the blows came raining down on her, while he raged on about her disobedience. She endured it without a word, struggling not to cry out in pain. As she expected, it did not last long. He stopped, opting instead to shout obscenities at her and shortly after, slammed the door on his way out.

Serena moaned. Struggling to get up, she wiped the traces of blood from the corner of her mouth. Slowly making her way to her room, she brought out a large duffel bag and dumped the few possessions that she owned into it. I have to leave, she thought. I can't stay here any longer.

Her hands were shaking, but she hardly noticed it as she hurriedly stuffed her clothing into the bag. Please don't come back yet, please don't come back yet. It was like a mantra that she was chanting. A prayer she hoped would be heard. The last time he had caught her trying to leave, she could barely walk for days. When the last of the lot had been packed in, she made for the door, and never looked back.

*notes: How was that? Do you think it'll do? Probably seems plot-less, huh? Please feel free to offer constructive criticism (CC)! Do review and tell me what you think of it, thanks! =D
