This is also my first Merlin fanfiction. Enjoy.
3rd Person POV omnisent.
She had run, run away from everything she knew: friends, what little was left of her family, and more than anything, love.
Now, here she was. Where had it left her? Alone and cold, in an empty shack wondering what it was that she'd lost, but knowing that she would never get it back.
Why hadn't she listened? Her friends, her family, they could helped. They may have listened, may have understood.
Was it too late to ask...for help?
He was falling. The whole time, falling through it all.
The lies.
The pain.
The loss.
Finally, he crashed. It hurt, but more than anything, there was relief.
He didn't know what was going on. He stumbled, blinded by misery and drink, staring, hoping to see her face.
Hoping.
Why? She should have known, should have listened. Everything told her it wasn't right: family, her real friends, people who, once upon a time, she could have trusted. They were all gone.
And the whole time, in her gut, by instinct, she knew it wouldn't work out. She knew she wouldn't be happy. But she was so desperate.
Now, she had nothing. And it was broken. She never even got to use it, find its beauty. It was broken, and all she knew was she could never fix it. Never.
She'd lost her heart, before she could love.
He knew she was there, waiting.
It had been years, but some wounds never heal; their tears would never dry.
But he still wasn't coming, not now.
Morgana would wait, counting the days by tears and lost dreams. Waiting for a victory, a hope, that would never come.
Merlin, he left. Disappeared. In the end, he took a forgotten road.
Again.
