The Girl Named Jane

by Hannah Compton

I was sitting in my home like every other teenage boy would do. I wasnt really doing any thing really. My dog Max was sitting next to me and the arm of the couch. Max and I never where apart, we just couldn't. We where the typical boy and his dog. My parents had went to the store to get some food for this thing my mom does. Its some kind of fund raiser. When i hear a noise from upstairs. So I just ignore it thinking it's just the wind. It was a very windy night so it makes sence. Then i hear scream then a thud following right after it.

Now I panic because I am supposed to be the only one home. Max starts to growl and snarl. Then Max does something I'v never seen before. He gets up with the hair raised up on his back and stands over me like he is protecting me from something. So I get up and go upstairs, trying to be as quiet as I can. When I walk into my room, the unthinkable is siting on my bed, a girl. She has long blonde hair, blue eyes that made the Alantic Ocean look gray, and she was waring a white strapless summer dress with little pink flowers at the bottom. I stare at this beatiful girl, confused.

"Uh, hello." I say in a whisper as I watch her eyes trace the room.

"Hello" She says in a very quiet and soft tone.

"Uh, who are you and what are you doing in my room?" I ask

"I'm Jane and this is my room."

"Uh, ok then."

"And your Issac, right?" she says

"Why yes I am, and how do you know that?"

"I know everthing about you. You are 14 years old, you have lived in this house for about a week now. Also, your bestfriend is Jenna Marie."

"Wow, thats amazing."

Jane looks at me with her beatiful blue eyes.

"Ok so where are your parents?" I ask.

"They died when I was four."

I go to comfort her as she starts to cry, but my hand goes right threw her hand. I pull my hand away really fast.

"Uh did you happen to die?" I ask, shocked.

"Yes I died just last year. I was shot and burried under the floor boards in the basement."

I was so shocked to say anything so I just moved my chocolate brown hair out of my very light hazel eyes.

"Oh, thats nice to know." I say while looking at the floor.

The phone next to my bed rings, so I answer it. It is my Aunt Lisa. God I hate her so much.

" Hello? Aunt Lisa mom isn't here, so I will have her call you back...Alrighty...bye." I hang up the phone.

Jane looks at me and smiles as I shake my hair out.

"Who was that Issac?"

"It was my Aunt Lisa." I say and look at her.

Jane gets up and giggles. I watch her walk to the door and bend down to pet Max. Max just lays there and sniffs her ghostly hand.

"I love puppies and kitties." Jane says and giggles.

I relieze that I have developed a crush on a dead person. WEIRD! I hear my parents down stairs.

"Issac, you home?" my dad calls.

"Yes, dad Im upstairs."

Max runs downstairs excited to see my mom and dad. I look at Jane, Jane is just sitting on the floor playing with a string on her dress. I smile at Jane and run down stairs.

"Hey mom, hey dad." I hug them "So what did you get at the store?"

"Honey just wait till dinner. Ok sugar pie?" Mom says.

"Ok mom. Hey when can I have a friend over?" I say and sit down.

"Sweety not till awhile, your father and I are very busy with work and bills."

I run upstairs and look for Jane. She is no were to be found.

"Jane?" I call for her.
