Title: Our Tomorrow

Summary: Just a little post-ep for Undead Again. No spoilers for Always.

Authors Note: I thought the ending of Undead Again was absolutely adorable so this fic is a little bit of Beckett and Castle's thought's during the scene and a little bit continued afterword. It has no spoilers for Always because I am leaving that to the genius that is AM. I have now watched the promo 67 times and I'm sure that number will go up before Monday

Disclaimer: (Insert creative sentence about how I don't own Castle here)

"So tomorrow?" She asked of her partner. Partner. She smiled inwardly just knowing that she could use that term again. They hadn't really been partners lately, but with this case she thought they had really seemed to be getting back on track. She raised her head an inch to look in to his eyes, even with the zombie make up on she could still read the emotions written on his face. He looked, contemplative. She could see the mental debate going on in his head but the real answer to what Richard Castle was thinking was located in his eyes. Kate had always loved his eyes, the striking blue iris' that sometimes seemed to reflect her soul. Lately Rick's eyes had been a darker shade of blue, a little of their child-like innocence lost; it was an oceanic blue, murky and fueled by betrayal and pain. Looking into his eye's now Kate saw that darker blue begin to subside into a lighter one. Her heartbeat quickened as she recognized the blue to which she had become accustomed. The blue was as clear as the sky and as flawless, but what really took her breath away was the sunlight of hope and love that shone behind them.

"Tomorrow," Castle answered and felt the corners of his mouth twitch upward in response to her smile. He had been hurt, but staring at the hope written on Kate Beckett's face his mind flashed back to his conversation with Alexis. "The question is: do you want it enough to get over the hurt?" Even as he asked his daughter the question he had been unsure of the answer to his own situation, it took him all of 30 seconds to determine that, yes, he did want it. He wanted it so badly that no amount of hurt could ever compare to the pain of not having Kate Beckett, as a friend, as a partner, or as something more. He wanted it and he was going to fight for it.

They went home to their respective apartments that night with their mouths still twitched up into small but hopeful smiles. The smiles remained as they both got the most peaceful sleep they had gotten in months. When morning came Richard Castle strode into the 12th precinct with a new spring in his step and two coffees in his hands. He was greeted with a gorgeous smile from his favorite detective and as blue eyes met green, he was sure he had made the right decision.

This was their tomorrow.

Yeah I know it's short but please review anyway. Always ~Cate
