Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh!, Shakespeare, or any of his plays. And, most unfortunately, I do not own Seto Kaiba, either. Most, most unfortunately. -sad fangirl sigh-
A/N: This is actually a random idea I had been thinking about for a while now, and then today I just randomly got inspired to write it out. I blame my muse. Please review and tell me what you think; I may write another fic like it if I get good responses.
Why Seto Kaiba Was Not in Shakespeare
Hamlet
Seto Kaiba was not in Hamlet because he does not believe in anything intangible which cannot be proven to exist by modern science. Since the king's ghost was not tangible and modern science didn't even exist at that point, Seto would have completely ignored all reports of any ghost and probably ridiculed the watchmen who brought said news. He would then likely have usurped the throne by driving his uncle mad and/or somehow driving him to commit suicide. The one thing that would probably have remained the same would have been the dumping of Ophelia. Seto Kaiba has no time for women, least of all women with no spine who he finds lacking in math and/or computer programming skills.
Romeo and Juliet
Seto Kaiba was not in Romeo and Juliet because, first and foremost, he would not have done something as stupid as falling in love in the first place. It's not cool, especially when you're a genius billionaire and have a company to run. Though had he by some miracle fallen for a girl with whom his family was feuding, Seto would have told said family where to go, taken whatever he saw as his rightful property (AKA likely all the Montagues' money), and sailed off to some island somewhere which he would have purchased for himself and his bride. Who had better have some math and/or computer programming skills. Oh, and he totally wouldn't have hesitated to just fight Tybalt in the first place, either, so Mercutio would have lived, too.
Macbeth
Seto Kaiba was not in Macbeth because he would never have believed the three witches and would likely have tried to shut them up by force when they continued to ramble on about prophecies. However, he would have still had ambitions of becoming king – mainly because he is Seto Kaiba and making his way to the top is what he does best. He would likely have killed Lady Macbeth (or Lady Kaiba, I suppose, in this case) for challenging his manhood, and would merely have driven Duncan to committing suicide or possibly just given him a little push off a tower somewhere and claimed that's what happened. Malcolm and Donalbain would simply have been bought off or possibly framed – and framed much more effectively than the guards were, mind you. Seto would have had falsified video footage of the incident and had their plots and conspiracies on audio recordings. He wouldn't have been bothered about Banquo, either, because he still wouldn't have believed in the prophecies, and even if Malcolm had somehow managed to come back with an army, Seto would have had his gravity-defying trench coat and at least a half dozen escape plans at the ready. Like he always does.
