AN: For the sake of good, old Yuya and Yuzu friendship fics/drabbles (we need more of those)
"Yuya! I arrived!"
The greenet sighed and lifted his little head to look at one of his best friends, Yuzu Hiragi.
The pink-haired girl had basically invited herself over to 'comfort' him (he was curious to know what that meant) thanks to his father's disapparence and the bullying that started shortly afterwards.
"What's that sigh for?" Yuzu asked. "No matter, we are going to have a lot of fun tonight! Whatever you like it or not!"
And so, with his protests and his mother's cheerful smile and wave, Yuya was dragged up to his room and ordered to sit on the bed as Yuzu dumped the items from her bag onto the floor before him and then set down across from him happily.
"I brought lots of sweets that I know you like and toys that we can play with...!"
"... Yuzu, I..."
"... so please cheer up.."
The little boy was shocked to see tears starting to gather in her eyes. Was his attitude that bad that it made his best friend cry?
Frowning, Yuya got off the bed and sat beside her, giving her a hug, trying to convey how sorry he was.
"Don't cry, Yuzu! I'll be fine, don't worry about it!" he pulled away and winked. "After all, I have my mom, your dad and you still with me don't I?"
She smiled through her tear-soaked face and nodded quickly.
"Of course! And I promise you that we will find your dad one day! Pinky promise!"
The pinkette raised her pinky finger as Yuya intertwined them with a low laugh.
"I'm holding you onto that!"
They spent the rest of the evening eating the sweets Yuzu brought with her and playing with the toys, laughing as Yuya's bear lost to her doll in a tea drinking contest. It was one of the last times they got the chance to be so carefree.
Unaware of what the future held for them.

The next morning, Yuya was bidding Yuzu goodbye as his mother got her car ready to drive the pinkette home.
"Thank you!" he told her. "I feel better now!"
"I'm glad!" she grinned. "Also, don't worry about those bullies! I will just deal with them myself!"
"No need!" Yuya spoke fast, not wanting her to get hurt.
"If you say so... but no promises if I see them making you cry again like you did yesterday..."
Yuzu sighed and leaned in, hugging him again.
"See you later, Yuya!"
"See ya!"
He waved as he watched her get into his mom's car and drive off, smiling softly as En and Core looked up at him from his feet.
"I think everything will be fine!" the greenet told them with a true smile.
The dogs barked, wagging their tails, as they followed him back inside. The door closed behind them in silence.
If only Yuya knew how wrong he truly was...
AN: Hope you liked this drabble! I tried to keep it light and happy but...
