When Rose had left him for Lorcan Scorpius thought his heart would never be whole. That was why he never looked anymore, he had had a couple one-night stands at the beginning but quickly found that it just made it hurt worse.

That was why he was out in the astronomy tower that night Lily had found him, he was out trying to find something in all those tragic love story's that went with the constellations. He no longer wanted love; he just wanted to know that the pain would end someday. She had come out and asked, "Which one?"

"Huh" he asked not understanding what she was looking for.

"Which one of my cousins broke your heart?"

"Rose" he said feeling sorry for himself. Lily nodded sympathetically saying that was always the worst.

"Cause she actually wants you to be happy."

He nodded. She sat down beside him and looked at the book in his lap.

"There's no condolence there, trust me ive searched it on numerous occasions. The only way the pain will ever stop is when you decide that you no longer want to care about her and move on. It sounds tough, I know but if you try youll probably find that someone who will treat you better is waiting just around the corner." Scorp shook his head, "Not for me, he said.

She looked at him doubting his opinion. "When was the last time you looked?"

He just sighed. "Oh stop that" she chastised, "if you keep up that way you'll forget how to breathe in and I'll be in trouble for not fixing you."

He laughed at her and she grinned at the sound.

"Much better."

They talked all night and got multiple detentions along with a speech from some prefects who got the wrong idea, finding them asleep in the tower.

Scorpius' life was much brighter after that and he and Lily became inseparable. At his graduation, Scorpius finally made his move and they started dating. Three years later they were married.

Rose felt awkward as she watched her cousin and ex get married. She wasn't a bridesmaid which upset her. Lily and she used to be so close. Scorpius was the one who changed that. He was always between her and her family. He would always be between her family and Lily. And somehow Lily was okay with that.

Scorpius was no longer a broken hearted boy, he was a grown man, and lily had made that happen. She deserved him.

Rose excused herself and tried to understand the tightness in her chest.
