Sakumo stared.

What in the world was his son holding?

Bending down slightly, Sakumo peered closely at the bunch of wrinkles in Kakashi's arms.

Sakumo blinked.

The wrinkles blinked right back.

Straightening up, Sakumo transferred his gaze away from the wrinkles and onto his son's beaming face.

"Er…Kashi-kun, what is that you're holding?"

If possible, Kakashi grin seemed to have grown even wider. Holding out the bunch of brown wrinkles up to his father's face, the 4 year old proclaimed proudly.

"This is Pug-kun! He will be my ninken!"

Sakumo lifted an eyebrow. And felt slightly guilty at his thoughts, 'That thing is a dog?'

"And where did you get Pukkun from 'Kashi?"

Kakashi lowered Pukkun and hugged the puppy to his chest. "Ruchi-san gave him to me! She said that she needed someone to take care of the puppies and teach them how to be good ninkens, so I decided to train Pug-kun for her!"

Sakumo smiled in amusement. So it was his summon who gave Kakashi the puppy. And judging from the way the puppy was nuzzling his son, Pukkun doesn't seem to object either.

Ruffling his son's hair, Sakumo knelt in front of his son. "That's wonderful 'Kashi-kun! I'm sure you'll do a god job of training Pukkun."

Kakashi beamed at the praise and nodded his head enthusiastically. "Oh yes! I'm going to teach him how to throw shurikans, wield chakra blades and I will even teach him taijutsu and-"

Sakumo smiled as his son babbled on how he was going to train his new ninken, despite how some of the things he mentioned where just plain impossible.

That night, when Sakumo was tucking his son in bed, Ruchi appeared to check on the puppy.

"So how did Kakashi like his new playmate?" Ruchi asked as she gazed at the sleeping children.

Sakumo smiled. "I think both 'Kashi-kun and Pakkun are pretty happy with each other."

"Pukkun?!"

"Yeah, Isn't that his name?"

Ruchi sighed. "Kakashi asked me who the pup was, and I answered that he was a pug. He must have thought that that was his name. "

Sakumo laughed. "So Pukkun isn't his name?"

"No. his name is, or was, Hachiban."

Sakumo winced, "you've got to be kidding me."

"Unfortunately not. Seiicho was the one who named all the pups this time round. Personally, I think Pukkun is a better name, despite the lack of creativity."

"I think any name would surpass being called 'number eight'."

"Hn."

Sakumo chuckled and gazed fondly at the two children curled under the blankets.

"So now what?" he asked his summon.

"Huh?"

"The pup. What's its name going to be?"

"Well, since Kakashi will be the one who will be summoning him the future, I think that gives him the right to name him."

"So Pukkun it is?"

"Yeah...Pukkun it is"

A/N: This is just a drabble that came out of no where. I was watching Shippuuden, the episode where Gai gives Kakashi a piggy back ride (halarious I tell you) and realized that Kakashi adds 'kun' to practically everyone. This lead to the realization that if I break Pukkun's name up, it would be 'Puk-kun'... 'Pug-kun'. Get?

Anyway, having this insight, my hands were just itching to write something, but I was too lazy to come up with an actual story, and hence this drabble was born !
