Evil? Challenge and competition: Clarisse La Rue

This Is War

Kronos being reborn had been a warning to the people, the good and the evil that the moment to fight was quickly approaching. The instigator, the unhappy party, had awakened.

The Titans fought for control over the planet they once ruled, the Olympians had to fight and defend for their continued rule over the planet they had watched over, the demigods had to fight for a world where they were truly accepted for who they were. A world some had only known for a very short time but had grown to love.

That was what Clarisse fought for, the moment they had been training their entire lives for and that had never arrived for some. Every sword swung, every cut or bruise received, every ache and pain of training had led to this. This is war.

She had known it ever since Percy had flung her and her siblings out of the toilet with the disgusting toilet water and it had only been confirmed when Poseidon had claimed him as his son. The timing had been perfect and his mission afterwards had left a small bit of excitement within her of an oncoming battle.

She knew that despite Ares cabin promising not to fight in the war that they would end up being part of it. They were children of the God of War, it would have been impossible for them to stay away from a war that was practically shoving itself under their nose and taunting them.

She knew she would fight to defend their homes and defend Camp Halfblood, the first place she had not been labeled as useless and always starting fights for no reason. It was her nature and it was accepted and not punished, she was labeled but only rightfully so.

She had seen her mother's disappointment every time she had been kicked out of another school for starting a fight when she was younger. Her mother had accepted it with a sigh but that had never hid her disappointment and weariness from Clarisse.

It had been an unspoken promise among the campers before the war had truly even begun.

They would defend their island, whatever the cost may be. They would fight on the beaches, they would fight on the landing grounds, they would fight in the fields and in the streets, they would fight in the hills. They would fight to the ends of the world.

They would never surrender, they would never give up.

They had too much to lose in this one battle, their lives were the very least that could be lost for there were things that the Titans could do that were worse than death.

Training could never have prepared them enough for the battle that they had fought.

The odds of then winning had been extremely slim but those were odds similar to the ones she had felt she faced in finding somewhere that she would be accepted.

She had found that place.

They could win the war.
