Greetings and salutations! This is the first combined fic from Lady Blackmour and EarthDragonette, and we're really excited with the story ideas that we've been coming up with. Please feel free (actually, please feel compelled) to read and review, letting us know what you liked, didn't like, and what you couldn't stop re-reading because it was so awesome.
Please note, that this in some ways is an alternate universe fanfiction, and in some ways not. You'll have to read through the chapters to exactly understand how everything comes together, but it's really not that farfetched of a crossing.
Disclaimer: As much as we dream of them, we have no rights to Inuyasha and Fluffy, nor their respective friends, mates, and majesties.
Rated: R (for language, and later chapters)
Star Crossed Youkai
By Lady Blackmour and EarthDragonette
Prologue
"Every story, new or ancient,
Bagatelle or work of art,
All are tales of human failing.
All are tales of love at heart."
-Aida (Elton John and Tim Rice)
Sesshoumaru sighed and pressed his face closer to his mate's collarbone. She gave him a gentle squeeze, rubbing his neck gently in post-coital contentment. As he lay there, peacefully, in the middle of the day, he thought to himself how fortunate it was that the youkai were a race that mostly governed themselves. His duties as their King had been many when they had come to this planet nearly six hundred years ago, but as they had settled, as time had passed, as they had become used to their new world, there had not been much need for government.
Oh, certainly, there had been those who had needed some…persuasion. The truth of the situation was that with the rise of the humans, and with the invention of such atrocities as guns, the youkai were no longer safe. The continuation of the species meant they had to put aside their differences and learn to act as one. And it was as one that they had left the planet forever. Earth belonged to the humans, and the youkai had to find their own home.
It seemed an impossible stroke of luck that they had come across the planet. Youkai could travel through space without a vessel, and Sesshoumaru had used his power to protect Rin. Their new home was just as beautiful as Earth, possibly moreso, as it was wholly unspoiled. They had affectionately named it Seidou, and Sesshoumaru, the most powerful taiyoukai still living, was made Lord. For hundreds of years, life had been peaceful.
His golden eyes snapped open, and he scowled. But it was about to change. Today, unless he was losing his touch.
"What is it, love?" his mate's soft voice reached his sensitive ears.
He sighed, burying his face between her breasts.
"I'll tell you soon, Rin, I promise. Right now I don't want to think about it."
She smiled, running her fingers through his long white hair. "As you wish."
He sighed again, smiling a little as he moved up her body. "Thank you," he breathed, meeting her lips with his.
Unfortunately it was only a few moments later that there was a knock at the door. Sesshoumaru growled, but managed to keep his voice even.
"Who is it?"
"My lord, it's Yameneko." Her voice was muffled through the wood. "I bring word."
"Very well, a moment, if you please."
Rin giggled as he kissed her one last time and left their bed. He dressed himself in a casual robe, then looked to see that she had yet to move. "Are you going to get dressed, my dear, or were you planning to let Yameneko see you in all your natural glory?"
Smirking at him, Rin stretched her hands slowly over her head, displaying her natural assets quite effectively. Sesshoumaru snarled at Yameneko's timing. "Oh, very well," she said, retrieving her kimono from the floor and donning it quickly as her mate went to open the door. Smoothing her hair, she gathered up her embroidery and went to kneel next to the window.
Yameneko, a young cat demoness, was ushered inside. Having greeted Sesshoumaru, she turned to greet Rin.
"My lady," she said brightly, bowing.
"Yameneko," Rin smiled. "How are you? I have not seen you for sometime!"
Yameneko grinned. "I know! I have missed you, my lady!" Though human, mating with a youkai had brought Rin immortality. She was tied to Sesshoumaru, and would not age or die as long as he still lived. She had been mated to Sesshoumaru for centuries, and was older now than most of the youkai themselves. Her unfailing kindness and unusual beauty endeared her to all, and the younger youkai seemed to look up to her as a second mother.
"I have missed you too," Rin said gently. "And we will speak later. But perhaps now you should relay your news?"
With a squeak, Yameneko turned to look at Sesshoumaru. But he didn't look angry, rather he only looked amused, and he gestured for her to continue. "My Lord, I sighted them in the woods near the palace only minutes ago. They seem to be moving towards the settlement, but it seems they are not planning to make contact."
Sesshoumaru nodded. "Very well. And you were undetected."
She nodded fervently. "I was, my lord."
"Good," he replied. "I will deal with them. You are dismissed."
"Sesshoumaru, what is going on? Who are 'they'?"
Sesshoumaru turned to her, holding out his hand. "We're going on a walk. I'll explain everything on the way."
********************************
Commander MacKettrey, first officer of Starfleet's ship the S.S. Columbia Prime, was more than shocked to see what looked like an angel enter the woods where she and the rest of the away team were currently stationed. It was true. He was angelic. His eyes were golden, his hair was long and white and flowing. His face was delicate and beautiful, and he seemed to give off a light of his own.
She had hidden with the rest of her team when one of the ensigns had detected life forms moving in their direction. The state in which they lived seemed to suggest that they were technologically not as advanced as Starfleet, and so the Prime Directive stated that they were not to make contact. But as the angel came closer, she noticed something odd.
On his arm, speaking quietly with him and smiling adoringly up at him, was what seemed to be…a human girl. Indeed, she looked no different than any other human MacKettrey had ever seen. Simply seemed to be a young oriental girl, even wearing the kimono that was traditional to Japan.
The angel kept walking until he was directly in the midst of the hidden away team. And then he spoke, and his voice was low and powerful.
"You may come out now," he said. "I have known you were here since your ship entered this system."
