Welcome to my first ever story! Before we start, just know this is a re-write of Prom, starting with the class room scene. Please leave a review if you want more stories like this :)

"They must have sensed that I was a lesbian, I mean, they must have! Do I smell like a golf course?" Santana cried out in anguish. "

They don't know what you're hiding, they just, they know that you're not being yourself. If you were to embrace all the awesomeness that you are, you would've won," Brittany countered.

"How do you know?""Because I voted for you. And, because I believe in you, Santana."

Santana sat on the floor in defeat, but still couldn't help but smile when she heard Brittany say this. No. She couldn't do this. "This prom sucks," she decided to proclaim.

"Why? Because Karofsky won and you didn't, because you don't get to gloat in front of Quinn, because you don't get a free crown?" There was a pause. "Or because you're secretly hurting inside and really don't want to be here with Karofsky at all?" Brittany asked quietly. Santana looked up. "I told you, I just can't do it, not yet. I'm not ready."

"Santana, can I ask you a question? If you could go back in time, and prevent yourself from ever meeting me, from become my friend, from loving me as much as I know you do, if you could keep all of that from happening, would you?" Santana immediately answered, "Of course not, Britt. You know that." "Then why can't they?"

Brittany abruptly left, leaving Santana feeling even worse than before. She was right: Santana didn't want too- oh, how she didn't want to- but still, she did. And she had to accept the facts. She was in love with Brittany, and she couldn't change that, even if she had wanted to, which was just another impossibility. And she was going to lose her if she didn't do something quickly.

Kurt and Santana both entered the gym at the same time, each with a new mindset, and each searching for Karofsky. Kurt got to him first, but only because Mercedes grabbed Santana, rushing her to get ready for their song. As the music began, she watched as Kurt and his boyfriend Blaine danced together. Kurt's boyfriend. Santana marveled at how happy they looked. This whole thing was a cruel joke on them, but still, they were so proud, so caring, so loving, and she could tell that neither one cared any longer. So why should she? She wasn't sure if it was a rush of too many emotions, the power of the music, or her reaction to drinking the punch Puck had spiked while Coach Sylvester was distracted by pulling out Artie's teeth, but suddenly, she knew it was time. Still singing and nearing the chorus, she went into the audience, in search of her one true love. As soon as she was spotted mopping around in a corner, Santana grabbed her, pulled her to the stage, and finished singing the song while staring at her the entire time. People definitely were noticing. At first there was silence, and then everyone began murmuring to each other. But honestly, Santana didn't care. She was with Brittany. Her best friend, her true love, her soul mate. And as she slowly leaned over to kiss her, she knew that ultimately, nothing, and no one, else mattered.
