Jackson and Greta are my original characters, but I don't own CSI.
I thought, since I wrote stories where Morgan and Sara danced with baby Greta, maybe it was time for Greg to dance with his daughter. Hope you enjoy...and pretty please review!
Teething was not fun, at least not for baby Greta Sanders. She was just getting a new tooth, and was not happy about it at all. Her brother Jackson didn't like being woken up at night when his baby sister cried, but he still loved her and tried to help.
One night, Greta woke up fussing. Greg had come home after his shift and told Judy he'd look in on her. He smiled warmly at his beautiful daughter when he came in the room. "Hey, princess," he whispered.
Greta managed a tiny smile, but still fussed. She reached her arms out for her father.
"What's the matter?" Greg asked as he lifted Greta from her crib. He cuddled the sleepy baby, and Greta rested her head on Greg's chest.
"You need your teething ring?" Greg asked as he reached in the crib and pulled out the ring. Greta pushed it away and nestled closer to Greg.
"Aw," Greg said, just loving the moment. He thought for a moment as he rubbed Greta's back. "I've got a good idea." He pulled Greta away to look in her beautiful eyes shaped just like Morgan's. "May I have this dance?" Greg whispered. He cradled Greta in his arms as he hummed You Are My Sunshine to his daughter.
Greta looked up at her father and narrowed her eyes, like she was wondering just what her father was up to. Greg simply smiled at her.
"Okay," Greg said. "Granted, your mother has the better singing voice. But would you like to dance with me?" Greg hummed a little more of the song and Greta cuddled close to him.
Jackson woke up and peered into the room. "Daddy?" He asked drowsily.
Greg smiled at his son. "Hey, Jacks. Did I wake you?"
Jackson shook his head. "Is Greta okay? She was crying."
"She's okay," Greg said as he rubbed her back. He kissed her cheek and Greta shook her head, fighting sleep. Greg smiled at his two children. "Hey, Jacks? I hope you don't mind, but I sang her a bit of the song your nana always sings you."
"Oh, that's okay," Jackson said with a smile and a yawn. "I sing her that all the time. She loves that song."
Greg smiled. He wished he could have been there for Jackson when he was a baby, but was so thankful he had his son. And Jackson loved him and adored Morgan and Greta both.
"I've got a good idea," Greg whispered as he rubbed Greta's back and the baby laid her head on his shoulder. Greg smiled softly at Jackson. "Jacks, would you like to dance with us?"
Jackson smiled. "Yeah. She needs me, cause I can remember the words!"
Greg laughed softly as Jackson came in and put his arms around them. "You ready?" Greg asked. Jackson nodded and began to sing the song.
Greta smiled softly at her brother as he sang. Greg smiled and danced with his two children, just loving the moment.
Morgan came in and watched her family. Jackson and Greg singing to baby Greta and dancing in her room was priceless.
"You are my sunshine," Jackson sang to his sister. He looked over and smiled at his mom. "Hi, Mama!"
"Hi," Morgan said. "Greta okay?"
"She was fussy," Greg said as he smiled at the baby who was trying so hard not to close her eyes. "So I figured maybe we could dance together."
"And she needed me to sing, cause I know the words to the song!" Jackson said.
Greg and Morgan smiled lovingly at their children. As Morgan came in, she said, "She is so lucky to have you both."
"You too, mama!" Jackson said. Morgan smiled as she kissed Greta's head.
The family stayed like that, just loving their little dance together. Watching Greta fall asleep and having Jackson sing her a lullaby, Morgan and Greg felt truly blessed.
The End
