She wasn't really sure what made her go check on him but as she stood outside his hotel room door she wondered just exactly she'd say to him once he opened the door; that she hadn't quite figured out yet.
Raising her hand to knock the door suddenly opened and there stood Nick, showered and once again in street clothes. He looked at her slightly surprised to find her standing there.
"Hales" he began "what's going on. You okay?"
She thought for a moment, then moving closer to him she pressed her lips to his for just a moment then pulled away. He stood there frozen and she pulled back, almost in shock that she had just kissed the guy that had been like a big brother to her for so many years.
"Nick I'm sorry- I just... I'm gonna go" she turned and practically ran back to her room. She couldn't believe what she had just done. Things would never be the same between them again.
Haley leaned against the door and let the fresh tears fall from her eyes, she never should have kissed him. They had such a close friendship and now because of one misinterpreted moment she had probably ruined that.
The moment stood out in her mind and it was all she had been able to think about since returning from practicing with him in the ring; a simple hip toss and as she extended her hand to help him up he pulled her down on top of him and began tickling her. He pinned her to the mat and in that moment she swore he was going to kiss her, but instead he stood up and left the ring without another word.
Suddenly the door opened and Haley looked up to find Nick in her doorway, he walked over and sat next to her against the wall. They sat in silence for a few minutes before he reached out and took her hand in his.
"Hales, you and I; we've been best friend for years now and there's nothing I wouldn't do for you. We've always been there for each other and I don't know where I'd be without you right now. I've helped train you but I've also fallen for you.." Nick explained softly, his blue eyes clashing with her hazel.
She stared back wide eyed as she took in what he was telling her. "You...really?" she asked, almost unable to form words.
He chuckled and leaning in he kissed her lips softly, her hand reached out and rest at the back of his neck as she scooted closer until she was practically in his lap.
"We keep this up and I'll have you out of those clothes in seconds flat" he muttered against her lips.
"And that would be a bad thing why?" she asked.
He pulled away and tucked a strand of hair back behind her ear "Because I want us to do this right bright eyes, you and I on a date tonight" he suggested.
"Sounds perfect to me" she murmured, their lips softly meeting once more.
