He wasn't coming. She knew it. She hadn't seen him in four years. Why would he want to see her now? A tear slipped down her face, and landed on the pretty pattern of the new dress she was wearing.

Gabriella Montez was sitting at a table, waiting for Troy. When she had come back to town after being in London for four years, Troy immediately called her and asked her to go out to dinner with him. She now thought that he had realized how selfish she was to leave in the first place, and how stupid she was to make their relationship come to an end. They were now twenty two, and she hoped they could restore their relationship. She hadn't dated any guys for the last four years. She got plenty dinner requests, but she quickly made an excuse and sent yet another boy away, frowning. She heard from Taylor that Troy was still playing basketball, and his skills had only increased. But, more importantly, that Troy had dated one girl for about two months, and then felt the need to break up. Gabriella hoped that need he felt was because of her.

She had been waiting for him for about thirty minutes.

She gathered her purse and her shawl, wrapping it around her. She left some money on the table, and left the restaurant. As she was walking outside, her heels made noises on the concrete. But she didn't hear anything. She didn't feel anything. She didn't know anything, but hurt. He had stood her up, and it was all her fault for leaving him.

About three minutes after leaving, as she was walking, she heard a noise. She looked up and saw someone on the sidewalk. She felt bad for the poor man, she thought he was homeless. She reached in her pocket and grabbed a twenty dollar bill to give to him. As she walked up closer, she recognized the dark outline of that brown, shaggy hair. Troy was sitting on the ground, breathing heavily, a bouquet of flowers in his hand. She stopped about three feet away from him. As he lifted his face out of his hands, he saw her out of the corner of his eye.

"Gaby?"

"Troy!"

"I…I…I'm sorry. I was to scared to go in. I thought you'd be to busy to have had dinner with me. To…important. I was just….scared." He did looked scared.

Gabriella grinned. "The wildcat superstar…scared?"

He stood up. "Yeah." He stretched out his hand with the flowers. "Here, I got these for you."

She took the flower. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left for London."

"It's okay, I'm just happy you're back." He said grinning. "What've you been up to?"

"Oh, I'm hoping to become a doctor."

His smile faded away. "You're leaving again?"

"No, I'm going to nursing school here"

"You're staying?" He asked hopefully.

She smiled. "I'm not leaving you again."

"I love you, Gaby."

"I love you too, Troy."

"Do me a favor?"

"Sure."

"Marry me."

Gazing into his eyes, she dropped the flowers and locked her lips on to his. She then hugged him and replied:

"Of course."
