Unbeatable Move

Camelot was under siege. By magic. Again.

King Arthur had been separated from the main group of his men and the few who were with him (new recruits and not helpful in the least but still honourable in their desire to help) had already fallen, while Merlin (forever loyal and at his side) attempted to help by distracting one of the beasts with pieces of rubble.

He could hear the cries of his men just around the corner. They were no doubt outnumbered and out powered. And Arthur knew if something wasn't done soon then many lives would be lost.

Sucking up his pride and dignity, Arthur used his Unbeatable Move.

He let one of the beasts hit him, sending him flinging into a wall. He them slumped down "unconscious". Merlin called out to him, concern clear in his voice. Arthur felt slightly guilty by causing his friend more worry by not replying. But it was necessary for his Unbeatable Move to work.

Within a minute all the beasts were defeated and Camelot was secure once more and it was safe to end his Unbeatable Move by "waking up".

"What happened?" he asked Merlin, faking a groan as stumbled to his feet.

Merlin shrugged with that self-deprecating look of his. "I don't know. They just flew away. You must have scared them off."

Arthur laughed inside at the pathetic excuse as he pretended to fall for it. It stung a little that his friend didn't trust him with the truth about his magic. But one day Merlin would tell him and Arthur thought that when that time came he would truly be the king that his people deserved.

Until then though he had his Unbeatable Move.
