Right, so here we are. I know this has been a long time coming, but what can I say, I'm a lazy perfectionist! LOL. As always, no, I do not own The Patriot. I do not even own most of the characters except my own. Also, this probably doesn't even count as a chapter, it's so short, but I feel I should leave it as is. Next one will be an actual chapter, I promise!

I suppose I should have taken the thunder as an omen. My grandmother had even said as much this morning as we stood on the porch, the breeze blowing our hair around crazily as we watched the storm roll in.

"Devil's out playin'," she commented. "You should stay inside today, I think."

"You're just being weird," I told her as I rolled my eyes. Something I now regret, seeing as I might never see her again.

She was right. I should have heeded her words. I did not, and because of my idiotic mistake, I am now crouching here in the middle of Lord knows where, in the rain, waiting for the strange men to stop looking for me.
