Being inspired by fanart so I had to write this lol.
She lay in a shallow pool of polluted water, the gem containing her soul in her hand, dark blotches swimming in the normally bright purple gem. Her long, black hair floated on the murky water, almost blending in. One thing stood out against the dark water though. A bright red ribbon.
She sighed lightly.
"Madoka..." she said with a slight smile.
Madoka had made a wish to erase all witches from the world in every timeline, present and future. But the enormous wish had caused all of the memories of her to be erased from earth, and Madoka herself became nothing but a concept.
She would finally be able to see the smiling face soon when she came to remove the grief from her Soul Gem, and letting her die peacefully. They could be together again. Forever. The future had never looked brighter.
Tears formed in her eyes. She couldn't stop herself from crying, no matter how hard she tried. Even if she could see the familiar pink haired girl again, dying still didn't seem... Pleasant.
A swirl of light pink formed in the gloomy, gray sky. Sparkles of all colors appeared around a girl with long, pink hair. She wore a white dress that was much longer in the back. A dark purple showed on the back of the dress, containing stars and other shades of purples in certain spots. She recognized her as a form of Madoka Kaname. The one who found dying magical girls and enabled them to die peacefully.
She gently flew down, slowly making her way to Homura with a gentle and calming smile on her face.
"Homura-chan, now we can stay together forever." Madoka said in a quiet and soothing whisper. "I'm sure you've been waiting for this all of this time."
Madoka's hands wrapped around Homura's Soul Gem. All of the grief her gem contained slowly rose in the air.
Tears streamed down Homura's face. She had no energy left to wipe away the tears. Even if she did, she didn't want to. A wave of happiness hit her, knowing she would finally be at peace and leave the earth filled with hope, but polluted with grief.
The last bit of grief was removed from her Soul Gem and the purple gem quietly broke, the thousands of glass pieces carried away by a gentle breeze, as light as a feather.
With all of her energy gone, Homura lay her head to the side, tears still staining her face. It felt strange to die.
As her vision blurred and slowly went dark, she heard a quiet voice.
"Shall we go, Homura-chan?" and a hand gently touched her hand.
The next thing she knew she was in a field filled with flowers, green grass, and a single cherry blossom tree. Something so perfect you would never find it on earth.
Madoka sat beside her, under the cherry blossom tree, smiling.
"I wondered when you would wake up, Homura-chan."
"Madoka?"
"This is where everyone comes when I remove the grief from their Soul Gem. It looks a lot different from the last time you were here, doesn't it?"
That's right... The last she was here was right after Madoka made her wish. It had only been a desolate white space. Nothing except for Madoka and Homura.
Madoka stood up and grabbed her hand, pulling her up off of the ground.
"Let's go!" Madoka said playfully.
Homura smiled and they both ran through the field of flowers together, the way they'll be from now on.
Hehe, HomuMado is adorable. Review if you'd like!
