Love. It's a fun word. A million little emotions summed up in four letters. As if that covers everything. All the fear, hatred, anger, death, intrigue and unfathomable guilt that come with those four little letters are almost never mentioned. At least not in any of the fairy tales I've read.
I realized this as I stared out the cracks of the boarded up window. The couple on the street looked so happy and blissfully ignorant of their surroundings. I smirked as I saw Robbie a ways down the street. Walking so calmly, every step was like he was walking on air. He looked as if he was on a leisurely stroll, but with every lamp post he passed under, his true intentions become more apparent. Robbie was hungry. If I didn't get out there soon there wouldn't be anything left.
He advanced on his prey.
I reached the door.
He crouched in the shadows.
I ran into the setting sun.
He pounced on the couple walking by.
I jumped over the railing and was on the other side.
The girl screamed.
The boy flailed.
Robbie feasted as I tore out the girl's neck.
Gurgling noises were followed by silence as Robbie dragged our prey into the adjacent alleyway. I followed him as the sun set and the crimson blood flowed down my dress on to my legs then finally the ground.
Licking my lips I turned to Robbie.
"What took you so long?" I asked
"What took me so long? How about that damn sun! Ya trying to get me killed Hope?" He responded in his Aussie accent.
"Oh you figured me out now did you?" I said mocking him. Robbie frowned as he threw the left overs into a nearby dumpster, after snapping their necks.
"What are ya doing out here anyway I told ya to wait at home."
"Wait in that shit hole? No. Besides I can take care of myself."
"Ya're too young to…."
"I'm 45 years old!" I shouted.
"No, ya've been 11 for 34yrs." He retaliated. "Plus ya know what would happen if ya were seen by anyone."
"Yeah, yeah the damn Volturi" I said as I hung my head and began walking back home, Robbie at my side.
"Ya need to take them more seriously. They will kill ya hope!" he said sternly, placing an arm on my shoulder opposite to him.
"I know it's just hard to take a ghost story seriously. I've never seen them."
"For a good reason"
