a/n; This was written last year for a history assignment. The assignment was to write a story about anything, but make it seem like it's in the 20's and use some vocabulary words. I shoved all the vocabulary into one sentence, so that part's a bit awkward. My teacher is an Office fan, and liked to reference it, so I wrote this when he was like 'this story could be about a zombie invasion, or something'. I don't think he expected me to take him seriously.
It's short, because I had to fit it on one page. But still, enjoy.
"And in recent news, a mysterious liquid has poured into a cemetery just outside of Scranton, PA. Citizens are to stay clear of the area until authorities-" Click. He turned off the radio and turned around. The floppy-haired idiot who was his desk mate, Jim Halpert, watched him closely as he scoured through his desk drawers viciously.
"Hey, Dwight."
"None of your business, Jim," Dwight said bluntly. He finally found what he was looking for - a wooden stake he had crafted from a broom handle.
"This isn't related to the cemetery, is it?" Jim asked, leaning back in his chair. The single light bulb in the room just barely allowed for vision.
"It may be," Dwight replied, hoping to sound mysterious. Before Jim could even open his mouth to reply, the door clicked shut behind Dwight.
The paper salesman pushed his way through the group of flappers arguing Prohibition, a hoard of anarchists being shoved along to be deported, and a few migrant workers rushing through the streets to the farms outside of Scranton. Finally, Dwight reached his car (painted black, of course) and started it up as soon as he got it.
As soon as Dwight exited the city limits, he slammed on the brakes, skidding sideways, and jumped out of the car before it could stop completely.
In front of him was an army of rotting, disgusting...
Vampires.
Just kidding, they were really zombies. But a few might have been vampires. Either way, Dwight stabbed them all in the head with his wooden stake, because that's the most satisfying way to kill a zombie.
