The Dead Man was born in a room in the Hospital in the revived settlement of Cascade Valley to the north of the Seattle ruins. Throughout childhood, he helped his hometown any way he could, though most of the harder work was done by the older teenagers and the adults.
When he turned fifteen, he was given a Pip-Boy 3000A that was salvaged from the near-by Vault and reprogrammed specifically for him. After taking ten years of school, he was sent to do whatever he pleased in the town based on his skill set; however, the town didn't have a position that suited him well, so he moved from job to job, hoping to find something useful when he was given the chance to be a hired gun for one of the most influential men in the Pacific Wasteland, which much betrayed its name, being extremely violent. One of the main threats in the Wasteland at the time had been a group of Slavers who called themselves The Righteous because they thought their way was correct and took for their own anyone whose views differed from their own.
Unfortunately for the Dead Man, he happened to be captured by a group of Slavers who brought him back to their camp for menial labor, but he soon rose up above the others and was given a rank in The Righteous, although he never openly admitted that his views had not changed. Once he had gotten high enough in rank within the group, he managed to escape their grasp, but not without taking some collateral damage. Wanted by The Righteous for betrayal, the Dead Man wanders the Wasteland, performing tasks too brutal for the Wastelanders to perform and too risky for any other person to take. Only known now as "The Dead Man," because of the bounty on his head that no one had the brawn to cash, his story begins anew when he is given the chance to have a face-altering surgery that gives him a new hope to begin again.
My name is Noah Cash, and I am the Dead Man.
AN: I will update 'The Righteous Northwest' once a week, and the reading won't exactly be light. If you can't stand reading long chapters, this is not the story for you. If you like this, please read my other two Fallout fanfictions: 'Riding the Bluff,' which takes place in the area of the war-torn Memphis, Tennessee, as the Outsider struggles in a tense environment of oncoming war; and 'The Fourth War,' in which the Courier finds himself hired by the mysterious Duke Alfons Orlins to destroy the remains of the Legion to the east who are now gathering under Caesar's successor, Octavius. Both of these stories are updated frequently, so please tune in!
