Prologue
"Please don't tell me you're actually going to agree to that!" Bess Marvin groaned.
Nancy Drew grinned sheepishly. "What do you think?"
Bess' eyes grew wide at that remark. She knew Nancy wouldn't let a good mystery slip by her. "But Nance, it's dangerous!"
Nancy rolled her eyes. "Give me a break, Bess. We've been through more dangerous escapades than this." Bess knew. Her mind flashed with memories of their past adventures, such as being kidnapped, nearly bitten by a venomous spider, getting run off the road by a crazy driver, and much more. "All right, all right. I give up." Bess threw up her hands in frustration.
"Good", Nancy said, "Now, let's go over the facts. Our mystery to solve is as follows: My rich Uncle Kent, has had several break -ins at his home. The last few times the break -ins occurred, he was shot in the foot. He claims the thief has dark hair and wears dark clothes. The thief always comes at around midnight. Our goal is to find out who the thief is, and stop him as quick as possible."
