If You're Wondering About Me

A/N: So, what does Gwen's 'rents think?
A flash of brilliant scarlet was succeeded by the swift slam of the heavy front door. A warm embrace; love devoured souls met at the passionately locked lips. An engine roared like a snarling beast, the kinds her daughter and father-in-law told wild stories about. Then it was like a speck of bright emerald against the horizon, down the road…the color of her daughter's radiant eyes. Letting go of the metal blinds, she let them whip back into their original place, her prying eyes tearing away from the scene. "Why do we let this go on, Frank?"
Studious eyes that had soaked up the latest news in the morning paper behind those glass curtains bridging on his nose, Frank Tennyson looked up at his wife. Her forehead had burrows of concern indented on her aging features. "Because…" the upmost corners of his bitten lips tugged into a slight, unsure smile, as if second guessing the gesture, "She loves this boy, Lili."
Instantly scoffing at those words, the redhead rolled her eyes in disgust, "Pft, love. Like she'd know what that means, Frank! She's only sixteen!" Folding her thin arms over her slight chest, the mother of the tough skinned Anodite rested against the railing of the carpeted stairs.
"I can see it…"
A rustling of inked paper dared to cut through the deadly glare of his wife.
Everything stilled, it was as if the Earth had stopped when her heart skipped a beat. "What?" Her voice was scarily calm, the malevolence striking each note perfectly with the formation of those words on her detest-stained lips. It was as if she was spitting acidic, flesh eating poison fresh into innocent his eyes.
"She's elated, honey. Can't you see it, the way her face lights up the instant she hears him or sees this boy? He's something really special to her. Even Carl and Sandra have mentioned Ben complaining about the two." Turning his attention back to the weekly crossword puzzle, he scratched out one of the numbers as boxes were filled with ease. "Now, I'm not saying I completely agree with any of this. She's our baby girl, Lili. I won't trust any guy with her until the day they get married, because I have to then."
Blowing out a sigh, Lili stared up at the plain ceiling. She knew her husband was right. She knew Max was right. She knew Carl and Sandra were right. They'd all discussed the young mix of Osmosian and Anodite. And according to Benjamin, they were getting pretty serious. Not that she couldn't see that; the ten bucks was practically worthless inside her nephew's pockets, to her. She just wanted someone more approvable. Someone more ideal. But that night, when her beautiful daughter came back inside at two in the morning, she could see it.
The love. The giddiness. The breathlessness. The way her eyes were glazed over in rich joyful happiness, how it took her more than a few seconds to realize she was going to be in trouble for missing her curfew.
It was how she'd felt with Frank.
Kevin was the one; it was as crystal clear just like the fact that Ben loved smoothies.
