A white tom sat in the nursery. He had blue eyes that constantly moved around as if he couldn't see. He sensed a new presence. The white tom felt the vibration of her voice; he knew she was his mother, but he would never see her or hear her voice. He didn't even know his own name. The she-cat curled around the tom and he nursed.

Dappletail looked down at her beautiful son, Dewkit. He would never hear or see her; that's what made Dappletail sad. She licked his forehead and nudged him closer. He was three moons old and old enough to stay by himself for a while so Dappletail padded out of the nursery.

She walked out of camp and padded under the coolness of the trees. The moon was shining high in the sky by the time Dappletail made it to sunningrocks. She sat down on the highest boulder there. "Why is Dewkit cursed like this? How could you do this, StarClan?"

Then the tortoiseshell heard a squeal come from the woods; a terrible squeal, a squeal like that could only come from someone who was completely unaware of their surroundings. She took off towards camp, faster than she ever was before. Dappletail didn't think she would make it in time. The path before her seemed to be stretched out, like the ground didn't want her to save her son.

Dappletail erupted into the camp and went straight to the nursery. A whole was in the nursery wall and Dewkit was gone. "Oh, StarClan." Dappletail whispered.

A creature was carrying the white tom. It smelled awful and he didn't even know what it was. It threw him and he hit something hard.

Sounds and sights erupted. The white tom could finally see and hear. He was somewhere nice, prey was running around and the weather was perfect. A silver-gray tabby she-cat padded up to the white tom. "Hello, Dewkit."

"That's my name? Dewkit?"

"It is indeed. I am Moonflower, the mother of Bluefur. I died in a battle with WindClan."

"I don't know who Bluefur is or WindClan."

"It's okay little one. You are in StarClan now; everything will be explained to you."

Dewkit padded into Clan territory. He decided to go tell his mother that he is okay. She was still staying in the nursery after his death. Dewkit prodded her and when she opened her eyes, she gasped. "Dewkit, you are alive!"

"No, mother. I am in StarClan. I came to tell you that I am well. Do not fear for me any longer. I love you." And with that Dewkit disappeared to go hunt with StarClan, in peace.
