this is the third doctor and a random female companion of you choosing who wants to see their mum. Loosely based off nine and Rose, but I was half way through writing it when I remembered that Rose never found out about regenerations when she was traveling with nine, so it could be AU or another companion altogether. The rest is fairly self explanatory.

"Right. Now we've got all that sorted out what about a visit to my mum?"

"You can go visit your mother, UNIT isn't holding you prisoner."

"In the 21st century, not the 18th or whenever this is!"

"You're going to have a bit of trouble then."

"Can't you take me in the TARDIS?"

"I don't do domestics"

"So what's UNIT?"

"Somewhere to park Bessie."

"You can take me to visit my Mum, your car will still be here when we get back!"

"I don't take people for joyrides you know. Especially not to visit their mother."

"My Doctor does!"

"You can wait for him then."

"What shall I do while I wait then?"

"You could get a science diploma, you could learn to follow orders, you could learn to make better tea, and the list is endless. And I might even thank me for making you slightly useful. And while your on you way out, do you mind seeing if the Brigadier has any more invasions for me to deal with before his incompetent nincompoops mess everything up again?"

"So you want me to be your lab assistant?"

"I've got Jo for that."

"She's not here though."

"She will be soon."

"As soon as my Doctor arrives."

"Yes."

"So you can take me to see my mum while you wait."

"No. I can drink my average tea in peace and quiet as soon as you go away."

"I'm not going to go away."

"Really?"

….

…

"I'm bored!"

"Go away then. Go see if the Brigadier has any more paper work for me to throw in the vortex."

She glared at him then stormed out grumpily, to go and sulk somewhere where she wouldn't be seen.

The Doctor sighed happily. He had gotten rid of both of his frankly annoying future self's companion and one of his other selves had Jo. As much as he liked her, she really could be a handful some times. He leaned back and took a sip of his tea, which despite his comments otherwise, wasn't all that bad. For a little while he could pretend he hadn't found these humans so interesting. Sometime afterwards the gunfire started. The Doctor finished drinking his tea and put the cup gently down on the saucer before collecting his coat and rushing off to see who had invaded this time.
