When people talk about Masquerades, the first thing that comes to their heads is, "A masked party", well they're right. But few people know the truth behind Masks and Masquerades.

The 2004 motion picture, 'The phantom of the opera' is an excellent example of what masquerades are really about. There is one scene in the movie called 'Masquerade', where everyone dresses up and wears a mask.

In one verse…

Masquerade,

Paper faces on parade,

Masquerade,

Hide your face, so the world will never find you.

The last 2 lines are really important because, it shows that Masquerades are really just about hiding behind a piece of paper, this is all glittered up, so that on-one will see who that person really is or what their hiding. Also when someone wears a mask at a masquerade, they are kind of pretending to be someone their not. When they wear a mask, people are really just hiding the fact that they have a secret to hid, not matter how big or small it is.

Which brings me onto another topic about masquerades, because really everyone is wearing an invisible mask, because everyone is hiding something, no matter how big or small it is, I mean no-one's perfect, so that's why we hide, we pretend to be something were not because if we don't want to expose that 'terrible thing' that were hiding.

But, that's really just my option, you might thing differently.
