When it rains, she thinks about him. The soft pitter patter of teardrops on the roof as she leans in the doorway and watches the misty green gray blur. Each drop holds a secret world in which she might have belonged to if only she had made a different choice.

Bella does not regret her choice, but she does wonder.

He gave her a choice. To live and embrace life for all it was worth. To carpe diem, waste days away in his little garage, sharing kisses and dreams. Nevertheless, she chose a love the eclipsed all else. And in her heart and mind she knows it was the right one. But her soul yearns for the life and joy that could have been.

Life with Edward is a blur of one fantastic moment after another—but she and Edward are not perfect. Every rose has its thorns and Bella's come in the form of laughing brown eyes and the toothy grins of russet skinned children. Edward gave her everything but one thing. And she would never resent him for that but she can't help the ache. Rosalie's story once seemed foreign to her, but now she understands the ache and allure of little dimpled faces.

Scientists talk about string theory and all the different universes created, but Bella knows there's only one universe. It may hold supernatural things beyond an ordinary person's grasp…but there is only one universe and your choices are final. She does not regret but she does watch the rain in quiet.
